I don't think crowfan would have made it in the past. To difficult to properly chill beer.

You make a valid point. I need to do some research on Civil War drinking habits.

Heading out shortly for a Civil War event today. It's a living history event, and I'll be drilling some of the new guys, getting them ready for Gettysburg. And yes, I still have to work, which is unfortunate, but it does pay the bills.

70 degree weather, but I was late because there was a closure due to construction and I was unfamiliar with the area. But we did a good job and the public asked good questions and enjoyed talking to us.

I stumbled onto something a month or so back you might be interested in. Ever hear of the Porter Turret Rifle?

I had not heard of that, but it's pretty cool.

Yeah, I went looking through my dad's old rifle books, where I'd have sworn anything ever made was noted, but nothing. Don't you love that 19th century look?
Some other site was noting that aside from the complexity, the fact that the chambers pointed out of the turret meant that you had a loaded one pointing back at you. Makes muzzle control a bit tricky . . .

The look is very cool. I love looking at firearms, antique and modern. I've been to House On The Rock, up in Wisconsin, and they have a whole lot of firearms there, most of which are more artistic as opposed to practical. But the artwork that goes into the weapons is totally amazing.

Are those the Lincolns you've provided military escort service for at events? I seem to remember you saying you had done that before.
Cool article. And full-time since 1994? Wow, that's impressive. I know a guy who has been doing it since 1996, but he's never been full-time, as far as I know. And your friends' story on how they got into it is almost exactly the story of the couple I know. He got asked as a favor to do a skit for some Cub Scouts, got curious about Linclon, and started reading. And reading. I've seen a couple of his presentations and enjoyed them greatly.

Yes, those are the Lincolns I escort at events. They are really nice people and they love talking with the public.
