As Ed the Sock is now doing an MST3K-style show. www.sweetposer.tk/urbmn/index.php/2010/06/07/tv-review-movie-sucks-2-eps/I missed the first show (Bride of the Gorilla), and based on the review, I'm glad I did. I did manage to catch the second one. I almost feel guilty for even thinking this. But, I kinda liked it. Kinda season KTMA/1 ish with a lot of quiet moments, which was all I could ask for. Riffs ranged from fart jokes to Schrodinger's cat references. The shows opening seems to indicate that The Brain That Wouldn't Die will be part of the show at some point. But there's nothing I can find resembling a schedule as to the movie featured.

The 2nd episode was definitely better than the first where audio of what people were saying didn't even match their lips, guhhh! But the show wasn't on this week so I think maybe it got taken off the air allready. Too bad because I am a big fan of Ron Sparks and Ed The Sock I wish this show had more time to find it self because they are obviously funny.

I'm the writer of the abovementioned article.
I wrote Andrew Young last Friday about TMS!' being taken off air. As I understand from his e-mail, CHCH swapped the show for Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight at the last minute.
The third episode should be on this Friday...unless CHCH reschedules the show again. I'm taking a wait-and-see approach, myself.

Based on Episode #3, I'd say this one is going the MST3K route. A little more junior-highish with the riffs of Wild Women of Wongo (I haven't seen the Film Crew version), but a fun way to spend Saturday morning after waking up. The aforementioned Ron Sparks does show up in the credits as a writer, but I wouldn't mind having him add a third voice to the riffing. The first part of the movie had fairly frequent riffs, but it did slow down a bit as it went on.
Interestingly, at some times they refuse to crack jokes. During the women/ape men fight seen, "Commentary would be superfluous...for further details, look up "shooting fish in a barrel".
Interestingly, my on screen programming didn't list the show on CHCH (they had The Big Fight), but it did show up on CHEK under This Movie Sucks.
Fave riff:
Ed: Hey, It is one of those automatic fancy stone doors. Red: This is ridiculous, at least on the Flintstones they'd show you the dinosaur pulling it.

As long as you don't insult our hockey players or our beer, we don't care how you spell it.

I have seen so far the Gorilla Bride episode and also the new version of the same episode with the riffing. I thought Ron Sparks was just a guest, but agree completely that they should do more with him, I love that he wore a shirt that just said "College", haha. I don't get the schedule either because it is never on there schedule but it is on Fridays at midnight.

CHCH will be moving This Movie Sucks! to Saturdays starting next week. TMS! aired a crawl about every ten minutes promoting the move.
FYI, yesterday's film was Wild Guitar. Ed and Red filmed some wraparounds in Hollywood. I Hate Hollywood is the other Ed the Sock show to debut on CHCH this year, so I assume that's a ready-made excuse for the location shooting. At least the shoot ties in with the film's setting.
The Wild Guitar episode also featured lots of clips from Ed's pre-CHCH days. The show is using a consistent share of filler lately. Not sure if I want to see old clips every week, but at least the show has a solid riffing structure at this point.
Does CHCH promote this show? I don't watch CHCH often enough to know. I don't know what to make of the scheduling change.

I haven't seen anything on CHCH promoting the show. The only way I'd even know it was on was through the on-screen programming listings.
This one did feature a reused riff, of sorts. Both TMS and MST3K's Eegah did a dog howling at the end of the Vickie, oh Vickie song. Completely understandable, as how can you not have that going through your head during that particular Arch Hall Jr number?
Riff of the show: "How touching. Singing a romantic love song to your long lost love, while a stripper frolics in front of you. Who is this guy, Charlie Sheen?"

I've sent the first 5 riffing episodes to skyroniter, so hopefully people outside the CHCH viewing area who are interested can work something out. The first double dip episode showed up, kinda. Killer Shrews was riffed on the weekend's show. They edited it down to about 40 minutes, and paired it with an also edited down The Snake, The Tiger, The Crane. Shrew riffs: Red: Why is Roke standing so far back? Ed: Because there's a redneck with a shotgun. Ed: Ignore the sturdy trees, and pick the sapling. He's only what? 280? Ron: Good thinking. Ed: Sorry, Roke. Your fate was sealed as soon as you were black. (Roke screams) Ron: Maybe he's OK. Red: Whoa! Finnegan's seen better days. (You probably have to be Canadian to get that one.) Ed: I never liked dog puppets. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph,_the_Insult_Comic_Dog#Ed_the_Sock_and_Pets.com Ed: Good idea. You've seen they can eat through concrete, so put up a wood plank.

Tomorrow (August 28, 2010 for you archive fans), This Movie Sucks! will air an E3 special. E3 is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, obviously.
There will also be a TMS! "season premiere" - I'm confused as to how a show that's only been on since May can have a season premiere, but whatever - on September 18, 2010. This information is from Channel Zero's Sonya Davidson. September 4 and 11 will be reruns...or re-edits, considering August 21, 2010 repeated Attack from Space, but with new Anime North footage. I wonder what the average turnaround for an episode is.
