I was watching the PPV when Foley took the fall off the steel cage. Most amazing thing I've ever seen. Then falling through the cage and the tacks...
Mick is one of the all-time great performers. He had a special tolerance to pain but I don't think even his body could take the falls, chair shots,... The problem was when kayfabe went out the window. Then it became a contest as to who could take the biggest bumps. They quit televising squash matches and put main event guys against each other so there was little choice but to ramp it up.
Other than old school videos, the only wrestling I've watched of late is TCW and Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. Not the same caliber of talent but at least a pretense of kayfabe.

Try Ring of Honor, which also presents wrestling as a faux-sport rather than "sports entertainment."
I met Mick Foley doing his stand-up/spoken word act at a local strip club. Of course Hell in the Cell was brought up. Awesome guy, and he wrecked himself more than anyone else but mentally came out better than he should have (I suppose consuming cheeseburgers rather than steroids and painkillers helped). But, dammit, I forgot my camera!

I don't get ROH tv, reaperg. At least I haven't found it on Direct TV.
I've heard rumors that the launch of the WWE Network will be in the not too distant future. If its the rumored $10 per month and has plenty of old school then I'll be in.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts at the end of Old School RAW -- now that's a feel good moment. You could see Dean Ambrose had trouble not smiling as the snake was crawling on him.

I saw that. Probably the first time I've watched Raw in a month. Cool moment for Dean.
What about the WWE streaming network for $9.95 per month? It includes all the current PPV and old WCW (hopefully NWA, Crockett,...). I think that price is fair and its worth a six month shot to see how it goes. I have years of old video on hard drives but much of it is multigeneration VHS rips and I never seem to get around to streaming much of it.
EDIT: Was it my perception or was the Raw crowd dead?

I don't plan on getting the WWE network, actually, just because it would distract me from anything else in my DVD/CD collection. Sounds awesome, though.
And yeah, the crowd at Old School RAW could've been better, but the audience at the and one week later made up for it.

I thought Raw the next week was flat. Though I like some of the talent can't stomach TNA of late. May do the network just to record as much old stuff as possible then drop it in six months. I haven't cared to see a current PPV since the days of the good old modified cable box.

The end of RAW with the massive "YES!" chat for Daniel Bryan was a beautiful thing, IMO.
And I hear ya on TNA. So much talent, so little idea how to use it. Wishing the American Wolves the best now that they've signed.

Worst wrestling debut ever! I love Ric Flair's "Oh God."

I listen to Austin and subscribe to MLW radio for Konnan and especially Jim Cornette.

I don't watch a lot of modern WWE. I do love NXT, Chikara, CMLL and New Japan. I watch a lot of old wrestling. I have the entire run of SMW TV on DVD. I have every episode of Superstars and Wrestling Challenge on a hard drive. I have a huge run of NWA/WCW TV and I have a really long run of Memphis TV.
