I know with a thread like this, people should expect spoilers. But I can't just blurt this one out just in case. Dale is dead, and man, it really kind of bums me out. Of all the characters, he was one of the few who seemed to be the least reactionary. Maybe it was because he was the oldest main character, I don't know, but Jeffrey DeMunn played him as a very believable everyman. I'm gonna miss him.
What got me was that no one thought to tell Dale that Randal had been spared, at least for the time being. Feels like it would have been right to let him know that on his way out. So yeah, one hell of a final scene, for sure. Wow.

I agree, Mod City. It certainly complicates everything and everyone. Great episode and yeah, the final scene rocked.

Damn. I never thought they'd kill off Dale. I'd thought he'd be around forever. The rest of the episode reminded me too much of the Lost episodes where they had Ben locked in the hatch. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out the same way either.

Why don't we just modify the title of this thread and allow spoilers. I think it'll spur discussion.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Spoiler tags are good for a thread with multiple subjects, but this is a thread about one currently ongoing show. I'm good with it if everyone else is.
Just don't tell me what happens in the comics ;D

OK, another big death last night and this time it's Shane! I knew this was coming but I didn't know when, so I figured the end scene would be his last, but it still surprised me when it happened.
A lot of this season has dealt with leadership issues, and it finally came to a head here. It seemed like Shane was almost asking for Rick to kill him, especially when you consider Shane probably had plenty of chances to off him quickly and by surprise. And some of the stuff he said to Rick, wow, he was trying everything to get a rise out of him.
I'll admit, I was sick of him and he was getting to be a really dangerous person to have around, but that last scene was still tough to watch.
Still, now with Dale and Shane gone, maybe they'll give T-Dog something to do and make Glen and Andrea more involved characters. And Daryl, too. It was interesting to watch Daryl - who was considered the loose cannon of the group for a while - sound so sane and rational talking with Rick compared to Shane talking to Rick.
Season finale next week. A slow as this season has plodded at some points, that went fast.

Next week the dead surround the farmhouse and we are left with an escape cliffhanger similar to the one at the end of season one. A great way again to set up season three. I thought this season moved at a good enough pace in setting up the show to last 4-5 seasons.
I was surprised to see Shane go too. I think he planned it, saw the hopelessness of his love triangle, and his madness creeping in. He got that kid to basically state his allegiance to the roughneck group who had attacked the group before in the bar scene. Then he offed him. Next Shane forced Rick to kill him. He could have easily shot Rick.
Everything Shane did in his final episode was for the good of the group. He went out a hero.

Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, New Jersey during her childhood before moving to the United Kingdom. She sounds just like a limey in real life.
What's with all the limeys playing Georgia crackers? Don't we have any Georgians for the parts? Like Demond Wilson or Jeff Foxworthy?

Pretty good episode, but I felt Shane's death should have been stronger. Wasn't really satisfied with it.
Looks like next week is going to get a little crazy. Hopefully the finale is better than last year's. That one was a whimper.

That farm is going down, and I can only picture him going down with it. I can see a few more of the Greenes too, save Maggie. I think her romance with Glenn will continue into next season. As for those whe have been regulars since the first season, the most expendible are T-Dog and Carol. But they've already slaightered three this season, do they really want to off any more?

Merle will be back for the third season. It's under wraps as to whether the character himself will appear orif he'll just be a vision like this season, but I doubt Michael Rooker would lose 20 pounds for a few minutes of screentime. My guess? He'll be one of the Governer's men.

That was one hell of a season finale! I have never seen anything like that on TV before. And then finally Rick has had enough of these people criticizing him and snaps into an angry monologue.
One thing that happened in this episode was a writing problem got solved. There was this guy on the farm who kept showing up and I never knew his name. I just called him Cypher Man. Then he got eaten in the RV, which because he was so woefully underwritten is not much of a spoiler. He seemed like more of a prop than a character. All I know was his name was Jimmy.
I guess he was just around to be devoured. He should have been called Walker Chow - the zombie genre equivalent of a Red Shirt of Star Trek.

Yeah, I thought it was great. The action really was top flight. Also loved the shot of the barn burning. Since I've upgraded to high definition some of the visuals on this show really pop out.
Looks like Andrea made a new friend. Thanks to Talking Dead I know who it is, even though I have no idea what this character is all about. I didn't even know this character existed.
Yeah, a lot of the farm people were bound to be cannon fodder in this episode. That's fine, things needed thinning out, anyway.
Oh, and people need to take it easy on Rick. Between Lori and her reaction to Rick's confession and Carol trying to get Daryl to turn on Rick I'd had about enough of those two.
Anyone know how long until the show returns? October or thereabouts? Seems like a long time to wait, but I'm looking forward to it.
