We have had an issue reguarding the topic of future MST3K DVD Volume speculation. We here at the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Discussion Board encourage discussion of our favorite television series, but we must limit this topic.
We only allow one volume speculation thread at a time. What does this mean? The guessing of episodes on the next DVD set has been a board tradition for quite some time, and our members quite enjoy it. We're not banning this type of thread, we just want to keep it under control. We here allow and encourage discussion on not only an announced upcoming set, but fun speculation on the following set. But volumes futher into the future must be reserved until they're next in line.
Why is this an issue?
1. Board flooding. Say you started a thread guessing the episodes on the next volume. Fair enough. Now you may even be excited for the volume that follows or the volume that comes after that, so you post two more threads covering each volume. We feel this clutters up our board, and pushes more legitamit topics out of sight. Which brings us to the next reason...
2. Speculation on the episode and extras selection following another episode and extras selection that can only speculated upon is pointless. While it seems like a legitamite topic, it's close enough to spam that we won't tolorate it. We appreciate your intentions to create a discussion, but there is really nothing to discuss.
That said, we do not discourage the discussion of potential future volumes. But if it's speculation, we ask our members to keep it in the sole speculation thread for upcoming volume that has not been announced.
However, if someone has concrete news on a future volume that hasn't been announced, even if it's following another unannounced volume, you are allowed to start a new thread. This is the only instance that a brand new thread will be tolorated. If it's exciting and warants a brand new discussion, we're all for it! Remember, we on the staff are MSTies too and we look forward to future volumes along with you guys.
We here on the staff try not to limit what can and can't be discussed on the board, but sometimes a line must be drawn. We've had a few issues with this topic in the past, and we wish to have very few in the future.
