wow. in honor of the new thread, I went searching youtube for something I'd never seen before and found the all-too-brief clip from KTMA1, the vacuum flowers clip. Joel is young, skinny, & mophaired--causes a complex twinge of emotion in me. We're all getting older...no new TV has come close to matching MST...and I want to shake Mallon until he coughs up this episode! (complex enough twinge for ya?)
Seeing any new MST is a wonderful opportunity and I'm grateful this was out there for me to catch today.

I tried to watch Fugitive Alien the other day, to keep up with the thread on Satellite News, but forgive me everyone everywhere, I just hate that episode. It's just a bunch of stuff that happens until eventually it stops.
I can't explain why it hits me that way.... but it does.
I followed it with "Code Name: Diamond Head," and that always satisfies, for some reason.

Watching Robot Monster, and it is great. We noticed that during Alice and Roy's romantic little scene that Roy's ear is bleeding. They didn't make any comments about it, weird.

Chipping away through the Gamera box with Gamera vs. Gaos. Kinda half-watched it, since I've seen the Gamera shows so many times. I just am a little superstitious with DVDs sometimes and feel like I have to at least put them on as soon as I get them, even if I don't have any intention of paying attention. Heaven forbid they sit on my shelf for a while before I actually watch them.
Thinking of jumping into MST3Kinfo's weekly episode guide. I know I've seen all of KTMA-Season 3, but I gave up on my attempt to watch the whole series early in season 4 for whatever reason and never picked it back up. We're getting close to it! I've let the Shout DVD sets dictate what episodes I watch. I need more MST in my life. I have completely unseen episodes in my life, still!

Zombie Nightmare
A very solid episode even after repeat viewings. I really enjoy the soundtrack to the movie as it's always good to have a Moterhead song as your beginning song to your movie.
I'm as horrified as Mike and the bots as one of the actors leaves the hot tub!
I always get a chuckle out of part of the movie where the song in the backround keeps saying "Let's Go" and the bots want to leave because the movie is telling them to.

the whole hot tub/chase scene is stellar. I always laugh at "John Goodman on Hume Cronyn's back could outrun this guy." Cronyn being dead doesn't even make it less funny.

I just watched The Girl in Lovers' Lane without having any prior knowledge about it. And it was really good! I enjoyed the adventures of the two "drifters", Danny and Big Stupid. (and the fact that they run with the Big Stupid joke through the whole film is hilarious)
Also the host segment where Crow is Jack Elam cracked me up.

Joe Don Baker double feature tonight makes for good times. I prefer Final Justice of the two. The closing credits song is the best.

Just took a look at "Track Of The Moon Beast". This is still one of my favorites. Hope that it gets a dvd release some time down the road. My tape is starting to show its age

I just watched Gamera from the MST3K vs Gamera box set. A good episode that I have seen many times before. But I haven't watched this on in awhile the copy itself was great and looked really good. No skips, blips or blemishes. The most pleasant surprise was then the "Turn down your lights...where applicable" was flashed before the opening song. If I remember correctly that hasn't appeared before or at least in many before this. The Bonus feature So Happy Together: A Look Back At MST3K & Gamera was real enjoyable. It was a bit amazed how everyone has aged. Then I realized that I was just a young pup of 30 when I first discovered the show back in 1991. Now I am 50 and have well aged.. LOL The MST Hour Wraps always good and really show the talent that is Micheal J. Nelson. The Original Japanese Trailer was well in Japanese and in Black and White. A bunch of people running around, yelling and kanji writing. Looking forward to more adventures of Gamera in the coming week.

I was halfway through re-watching Fugitive Alien for the first time since I got it last November, then the news hit about Shout! getting the two other Tsuburaya shows and with both Fugitive Alien flicks likely in the cards I decided to hold off on the rewatch for an official release! (I'm such a nerd!)

"Creeping Terror."
Well, it does creep, you gotta give 'em that. I enjoy the episode, but have to say this is one that you HAVE to watch in order to get the jokes -- you can't have it on and just listen while you do other stuff, because it's all narration, the whole time.
The world's slowest, most annoyingly easy-to-evade-yet-nobody-does monster in movie history. The scene at the high school dance is the most ridiculous, I think. Fifty people, all ganged up at one exit, fighting to get out first, so that not one of them makes an escape even though the monster moves at something like one-tenth MPH. There are even two dancers standing to one side, aghast, the whole time, that the monster doesn't notice until he's finished with all the others -- and they STILL manage to get eaten.
Yikes.
Also, I noticed that, in the scene with the little boy and his turtle-shaped grandpa, the Brains refer to the kid as "Bobby" well before we should have this information. Somehow it feels so natural that I hadn't noticed in years and years of viewing.
Peace!

Teenagers from Outer Space: I watched this one a few weeks ago with my best friend, he rememberd this episode fondly and wanted to watch it. So it gave me the perfect excuse to finally purchse Volume 6 off Amazon.com
Wow, what a low budget cheesfest this was. Plus the title isn't even accurate, there is only one "teenager" Derek, and he is playing by an actor who is definatly not under 20! We had acting ranging from wooden to over the top. The so called monster was a laugh riot. Horrible effect. I did like Betty, she was cute.
The best character for me was Derek's boss, Captain TORCHA!! I just love how Joel and the bots latched unto the torture line and ran with it, it provided some of the best riffs.
The riffing was pretty good, lots of laughs with some really good zinger riffs. It has a few slow spots but overall it was fun.
Host segments were all right, I did love the stuff with Dr F and Resussitation Annie. and the Scratch and Sniff Report Cards.
My Grade: B+
