Glad you're okay, Sky. Got hit here in CT. It was pretty bad right by the shore, saw some pictures of fire fighters going down the flooded streets in row boats, and waves crashing over the streets. But, I'm on higher ground, and my area wasn't so bad. Our cable is out (aaAAAaahhh!), but didn't lose power or phones. Some others in the state lost power, though. It was a mess, but I'm glad it wasn't as bad as it could've been. My kitty's happy he can go outside now.

Welcome back Sky. Lots of trees down and leaves all over the place but I never lost power. A couple of my relatives did though.
My 1000 post!

Well, mod city, no tornado or even flood in, say, Iowa ever affected 20 million people; I say that as a native mid-westerner who saw a tornado and sandbagged through a big Mississippi flood. (Wait for a giant asteroid hit--that'll work!) Many people across the country have a loved one living along that coast and would want to know. But I did have to laugh at the tiny earthquake's coverage last week, being a former resident of the SF Bay Area--please, a 5.8? Well, inlovewithcrow, as I said, I understand there is a certain level of news coverage that's appropriate for this kind of event. I still fail to see why I have to listen to sports announcers at a midwest baseball game wax on about an event like this, especially in a world with a 24-7 news cycle and a half-dozen full-time national news networks that are more than happy to cash in on the ratings. It was just my two cents, that's all. That said, good to hear from you Sky! Glad you're back!

Welcome back, Sky. Glad you're okay. Well, my basement did flood, but strangely enough I got less water than I had two weeks ago when we had a huge rainstorm. Only about an inch or so this time. I can handle that. I had some small branches and leaves come down in my front yard. I was worried that the big tree outside my house was going to come down, but it held steady. I was going to clean up the yard tomorrow, but around suppertime I looked outside and saw my next door neighbor cleaning it for me. He also cleared my walk with his snowblower during last year's blizzard. If there was a World's Best Neighbor award, I would nominate him for it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I'm fine too - thanks for asking guys. ;D It was a hurricane of savings going on at my place (45 minutes northwest of Sky's town). Here we've got all sorts of major power outages, and the entire county east of us (on the water) is completely without power, and trees are down all over the place. My job (network technician - communication company) is directly affected by this stuff, so it's been very long and very hot work thusfar. More and more areas are gaining power back though with each hour that passes (as Sky's status indicated), so we're getting there. I've got a scheduled flight to California Thursday....MAN I hope my boss lets me go despite all that's going on. That's a lot of non-refundable ticket money down the drain otherwise.

I'm right up the coast from you. Some guy on the radio was saying we could get a triple threat this week. Earthquake, hurricane, tornado. Yay!Me and my big mouth. Earthquake on Monday, hurricane and tornados on Saturday. What a week, what a week! We never lost power at home during the storm, but come Sunday afternoon it goes out for 5 hours. Go figure. I've spent the last 2 days helping my mom clean up the yard. What we didn't squeeze into the trash cans, we piled up into about 5 different piles so when trash comes on Tuesday(I hope) we can get the rest in our 2 trash cans.

My yard is a mess. Trees fallen. Branches everywhere. I've got a little water damage from where rain blew into my attic vent. I am one of the lucky ones!

Just got power back a little while ago.
Lotta trees fell, streets were flooded and some kids were actually swimming in them.
Crazy storm but nobody was hurt so that's good.

I've had power the whole time, but I just got phone and Internet service back a little earlier. Glad to see everyone here is alright.
I live a little outside of Albany, NY and I'm on top of a mountain, so I was fine except for a flooded basement, but nearly everywhere else around me is absolutely devastated. A few friends of mine had to evacuate their grandparents and in-laws, who lived near the Gilboa dam. Their homes are now totally destroyed. I never thought I'd see anything like this here.

Vermont really got walloped, didn't it? Are there any major roads or bridges that weren't affected? I saw some pictures on Facebook. Wow. Some roads were just wiped out. My aunt and uncle live there (in - Thanks, people of Rutland!). They had a corn field across the street from their condos where my uncle walks their dog. It is now a lake.
Not too bad where I live, but a town over, a lot of people lost homes on the shore. There was one house on a street not too far from me where a power line came down and must've sparked and started a fire. The siding on the house is melted and two cars in the driveway are burnt shells. That must've been horrific.

^ holy toledo crowschmo, you are describing exactly the house with the melty siding and the two toasted cars from the downed power line that are here in west haven just a few streets away from where I live. do you live in the next town over? Orange? Milford?
