I've had the Two Volume BCI version of Ultraman for years as I loved the English dub because after all, that is what I grew up on. I then bought Ultra Q, Ultra Seven, and the Return of Ultraman and I adore these. So my question is, should I double dip and buy the Millcreek Ultraman series as well? Is there a definite improvement?

I think the picture looks quite nice in HD. More professional eyes are stating the picture on Ultraman specifically is a bit problematic (Ultra Q, UltraSeven, and the other Ultraman shows are getting better grades), so I'd check out some screencaps. www.blu-ray.com/movies/Ultraman-The-Complete-Series-Blu-ray/247524/#ScreenshotsThough note that there is no dub featured. All of the Ultra shows by Mill Creek are sub only.

Yep I have no problem with the Japanese audio with sub-titles. I think the sub-titles could've been done a little better. You don't have to put little exclamations like "ow" in there, just the dialogue will do. Also did they really use words like "bastard" "Godammit" and "sh*t" (the last from Ultra Q) in a kid's show? A funny comparison between the new and old Ultraman set I noticed, was a scene where the Captain instructs Arashi, in the old BCI set, to "aim for his anus" regarding the monster of the day. In the new set the sub-title says "aim for his butthole"

I'm no expert on Japanese translation, though I think I recall expletives in Shout Factory's Super Sentai sets as well. If I were to give an uninformed assumption, I'd say maybe the original language had Japanese exclamations that may not be lewd in nature that are just given a more American flavor, and since this discs are aimed at an adult collector (not many children in the US are interested in subtitled shows from Japan from the 60's) you won't get many complaints.
Personally, I'd maybe take a swing for the Ultraman set. It's a pretty decent upgrade, and running barely above 20 bucks it's not a huge investment. These sets have been easy to keep up with and they haven't broken my bank yet. I have all seven so far, with Ultraman X on the way at the end of the month and Ultraman Ace on standby for May. I love these sets.

It'll be a thankless task to note all the delays that Godzilla vs. Kong is going to suffer because of Covid, so I'm not going to. It will come out when it comes out. All I can say is expect it to get shifted again because Universal plowed F9 right into it a second time. Whether it will be sooner rather than later is anybody's guess, but it's likely WB will be saving a spring slot in case they need to bump Wonder Woman again, so I anticipate later (even though the movie is practically finished). One Godzilla project that won't be effected by Covid, Godzilla: Singular Point, a recently announced anime series on Netflix. variety.com/2020/tv/news/godzilla-anime-series-netflix-1234794916/The series will not tie into the Godzilla anime films (thank god), and will feature a new story and cast. This comes hot off the heels of Netflix distributing the Anime Trilogy (which overshadowed their theater release in Japan by a wide margin) and a second season renewal of an anime Ultraman series. As usual, I will subscribe to Netflix, breeze through it, and immediately cancel.

My first impression: I saw Jet Jaguar and I saw Anguirus. This is already better than the anime trilogy.

Godzilla vs. Kong now confirmed for HBO Max.
Will see in theaters anyway because streaming can go flapjacks itself.

The only thing I've seen is that HBOMax teaser that shows quick clips of the movies they'll be hosting... it's very brief, but if you haven't seen it, it's (currently) pinned at the top of their FB page... www.facebook.com/HBOMax/

The only thing I've seen is that HBOMax teaser that shows quick clips of the movies they'll be hosting... it's very brief, but if you haven't seen it, it's (currently) pinned at the top of their FB page... www.facebook.com/HBOMax/So far they have that second-long clip of Kong in chains roaring, a second-long clip of Godzilla swimming, and over a year ago three seconds of footage featuring Godzilla and Kong squaring off on an aircraft carrier, where Kong takes a swing at Godzilla's head and it cuts away Rocky III style. That's all the footage we've seen so far. There's some rumblings about a trailer being released during Super Bowl. I find that very unlikely as Warner traditionally doesn't buy Super Bowl ads. All accounts say that post-production was completed last year (same happened with King of the Monsters, as it was completed half a year before it came out), and I'm inclined to believe the jump to March means they're ready to roll it out while they finish post on other movies on their schedule (plus it gets it out of the way of Fast & Furious, which would have murdered it). I'm willing to bet they have a trailer ready to go and it might be posted this week. But that's just a gut call, I'm likely wrong.
