FYI, the Plaza Classic Film Festival here in El Paso is advertising the World Re-Premiere of the restored Manos this weekend. Website: plazaclassic.com/films.php I'll be there for certain.

It looks like somebody on SomethingAwful has posted a bombshell of a thread! He has Manos (and a bunch of other Emerson Films) on 16mm and is working on a blu-ray! Whaaaaaaat? You mean, the original Manos, The Hands Of Fate on Blu-Ray?Jeez, what's the point?

I love the workprint name: MANOS: THE FINGERS OF FATE
The comparisons are really striking. [/b] [/quote] Whoa, man. That's the nicest lipstick-on-a-pig job I've ever seen. Too bad they can't digitally clean up and enhance the acting, and the plot. Seriously, I couldn't possibly watch the original unriffed version. I know this sounds weird, but I enjoyed watching it on MST3k, with that nasty, scruffed-up, poorly-duped print they were using. It had a look that really underscored the overall shoddy quality of the movie. Seeing it digitally remastered to crisp, vivid clarity kind of ruins it for me. So, what motivated this guy, anyway? Did he discover a previously lost stereo mix of The Haunting Torgo Theme lying around?

As the premier MST3k fan message board on the internet, we should petition the maker to let us do a commentary track for him. Jeez, man, I don't know. Perhaps, instead, we should try and get in touch with Jim Mallon at BBI and see if he knows of a way they could crop out the image from the original footage of Experiment 424 and mat the restored footage in under the Shadowrama effect so that it matches the original timecode "hits". I don't think anyone here could possibly come up with a commentary track any better than the one that Joel and The Bots laid down. Still, didn't RiffTrax or Cinematic Titanic do a reprise live riffing of Manos? Now, that'd be sweet. Anyone know how to get hold of Nelson, Murphy and/or Corbett?

I was on the restoration website looking at screen shots yesterday, and decided to start playing around with cover ideas. There's a lot of info to be filled in on the back, but you get the idea. Hopefully, the Master would approve. Seriously man, this is outright awesome. No one's commented on your efforts on this thus far it seems, if I were Ben, I would sure use that cover for it. That's sincerely the most badass design ever. When I heard about this remastering project, I was skeptical and thought "Seriously, someone is restoring this pile of poopie?" using harsher words than poopie. But as I looked on, I felt impressed by it to the point i'd feel courageous enough to buy it if it comes on DVD at some point (in addition to the Blu-Ray)
