I watched a video Spoony posted recently where he talked about going to DC to contest the SOPA bill. He relays a couple odd stories about trying to fly back home. One story he relays is about waiting in the terminal and having an old man sit next to him looking at the Playboy Lindsay Lohan spread.
Well, I finally got my hands on the digital spread; no, find your own. So, I thought I would share a couple thoughts.
First off, I'm really disconnected from pop culture and I really don't know why exactly Lindsay Lohan is a celebrity. I know she had a singing career and I'm to assume she's been in jail for some reason. Beyond that, I don't know and I don't care.
Second, I like how Spoony asked in his video, "Who told Lindsay she looked like Marilyn Monroe?" The photographer Yu Tsai apparently decided to theme the spread in tribute to the Marilyn Monroe shoot. They even have Lohan's hair died blonde and, in some shots, modeled like Monroe's (or else they're actually using wigs). They also have a beauty mark pasted to her face. Like Spoony said, this is not an original idea. I believe that a Monroe motif might have been utilized for an Anna Nicole Smith pictorial. In defense of that, Smith was a blonde (I assume) and could pull off the classic look. I think Heather Kozar has also done a Monroe motif, and I think that Kozar has a stronger resemblance to classic Monroe than Smith did.
Third, I need to talk about the appearance of the photos. I use Photoshop, but not really to the extents and effects that I suppose professionals do. I use it for drawing original pictures, composing web graphics, scanning pencil drawings, or resizing images for articles. I know there's a variety of filter effects and contrast effects that come with the package. This photos look really filtered or really contrasted. Spoony used the term "crack ho", and I thought that was a little mean. She seems to have a pretty nice body, if this is her body. I've seen the biker mamas in Easy Rider magazines. I don't think her body looks bad.
However, I don't know what Lindsay Lohan looks like in real life. My first thoughts when I saw a few of these shots was, "Did they paste her head on someone else's body?" However, like I said, the contrast is really set high in these photos. When I look at the drapes in the background, they look like they were painted or watercolored in. Thus, I conclude that someone used an artistic filter on these photos and really threw high the contrast on Lohan's body.
There are good celebrity photo shoots in the past. Bo Derek, I get it. Olivia Munn, I get it. Joan Severence, I get it. This, I don't get it. The theme was poorly advised and the photos are filtered to oblivion. You could tell me that the model was anybody, and I wouldn't be able to contest your statement.
I've put way too much thought into this.
