The Fiat 500 commercial was the best commercial in Superbowl history. In fact, I lost interest halfway through, if you know what I mean.
Also, the old guy holding the Lombardi trophy and walking across the field while a bunch of other guys stroked it made me feel funny.

in addition to the seductive italian models, light S&M and homoeroticism, apparently a game of some sort was played.

I think I can safely say that there's a new rule in Football: The Patriots and The Giants always put on a great game when they face each other in the Superbowl. It was pretty much down the middle even throughout the entire game, either team could have pulled off a win.
Congrats to The Giants, good game Patriots....and all of you whiny bandwagon Patriots fans....try and keep the butthurt to a minimum. (This does not go to the classy Pats fans who always were fans of the team).

As far as commercials go, I liked the one where the sandman accidentally dumps a bunch of sand on the sleeping guys face. Also liked the Feris Bueller nod. For some reason I also really liked the Chevy commercial featuring a few of a car's "firsts." Bungee jump, etc.
Other than that, far too many dogs and kids/babies.
As for the game, it wasn't a shootout, but it was definitely not boring. I don't watch that much football, but I don't know if I've ever seen a defense let a guy storm into the end zone, only to have him try and stop just short to keep the clock running - and fail.
Fun. Not bad at all.

Did anyone happen to notice the Patriots getting booed big time when they were introduced on the field? Must have been a ton of Colt fans who snuck into the stadium...

I also liked the Sandman ad. The broderick ad i was kinda iffy on; it sorta felt a bit like cashing in on the Ferris franchise, I dunno, a bit prostitute-y. I'd hate to watch Ferris Beuller some day and automatically think about a cheesy superbowl ad when the movie's worthy of so much more than that. I kinda wish they'd picked a lesser Broderick movie to do that to.
And I did notice the pats getting booed when they got on the field. I think the commentators even mentioned it. But then for the rest of the game the crowd seemed pretty even-handed to me. but it was hard to tell.
Loved the bit with the giants running back trying to stop on the 1-yard line and then falling on his butt on the endzone. I didn't even get that until the commentators explained it. I was like, what was that, an incredibly risky endzone celebration?
It was a really good game, i thought. not great, but really good. Although the score fluctuated, the giants just looked like a better team throughout so i wasn't too surprised by the ending.

I actually kind of liked Madonna's set. Way better than the Rolling Stones are the Black Eyed Peas, in my opinion.
What did get me, however, was that commercial that had a group rapping over the music for The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary. As a fan of the band, I was pumped when I heard that come on, and then they rapped all over it. I mean, come on guys, that's not even sampling. It was the song with lyrics removed.
EDIT: I've learned that this is a mashup of two songs. I don't care. Leave The Cult alone.

I'd have been less unimpressed with NBC's new smash hit SMASH about a superstar singer/actress bursting onto the Broadway scene and becoming this huge sensation beyond any we've ever seen before if they didn't autotune her singing voice, which sounded pretty much like the crap every other throaty woman singer's putting out even if they hadn't done so.

I didn't pay much attention to the commercials. I agree with Mod City that the halftime show was decent, especially when compared to more recent offerings. In fact, I thought Madonna sounded pretty good, but the choreography was definitely a bit goofy.
As a Pats fan the outcome sucked. A Welker or Hernandez catch here, a bad Brady throw there and we might have won but that wasn't to be. That aside, the better team on the field won. So I tip my cap to Eli, Coughlin and the rest of the team for their deserved victory.

Major lip-synching. A fine visual presentation, to be sure, but give me a live band any day.
