I don't care for the Tigers, but congratulations to Miguel Cabrera. Winning a Triple Crown is an amazing accomplishment.

Yes, indeed.
And what the hell, Rangers? You were my goto for replacement Sox rooting. Now you're in the goddam wild card?
And where the hell was White Sox offense of the past two games BEFORE it stopped mattering.
I hate baseball. Which is why I'm going to watch even more it for the next month.

Congrats to the first Triple Crown winner since Yaz. A decent time before I was around.
And, for their worst season since 1966 (I think), I present to you the 2012 Boston Red Sox! I still don't know how the hell Cherington got the Dodgers to take both Beckett and Crawford, but I'm not complaining. Beckett had to go, Crawford I retained hope for but the contract was terrible when it was signed no matter how good he had been. A classic case of both being paid for past performance. I hope Crawford turns it around when he isn't under constant scrutiny and gets over his recent injury issues. But still, how the hell did they move those two and pay only $12 million? Gonzo is a huge loss but he's not worth his full contract, plus Beckett's, plus a TJ surgery Crawford's less only the $12 million.

I'm just sorry we pulled Youkillis from you for...something else sorry. If he's not back with us next year, I'll miss him.

I'm just glad he went to a team that didn't totally suck. Well, in theory, or something. It's been said many times and I've always agreed: you hate him on an opposing team, but you'd love him on yours. Don't know if he was there long enough to reach that status, but I'll always be a fan no matter where he plays.

Congrats to the first Triple Crown winner since Yaz. A decent time before I was around. Pretty amazing - he somehow managed to do it with practically no fanfare. It's way more rare to win the Triple Crown than it is to bat .400, and if he had been going for .400 he would have 20 cameras in his face for the last month and a half. When I was in high school I was sure Frank Thomas had about the best shot at winning a Triple Crown. I was wrong about that but I'm glad I got to see someone do it in my lifetime.

It's that time. Make your picks. Granted, the new wild card makes it harder. But, still, we have to keep up traditions.
Mine:
American League WC: Texas ALDS: Texas and Oakland (I know, crazy talk, and I hope Detroit pulls through) ALCS: Texas over A's
National League: WC: St. Louis NLDS: Washington and Cincinatti NLCS: Washington
WS: Washington
I'm probably all kinds of wrong about the AL, but my NL doesn't seem too far fetched.

Since the Brewers didn't make it my picks are pretty much in line with yours, although it wouldn't surprise me if Baltimore takes the Wild Card. I do hope Washington wins, but could Texas take losing the WS three years in a row? Especially after what happened last year.

I just want the Cardinals to go away. I want them to lose early and painfully. Unfortunately, they're like cockroaches. They won't go away and they won't stay killed. Even though I would love to see a Nationals-Orioles World Series, I need to be honest with my picks.
NL: WC: Cardinals NLDS: Cardinals & Giants NLCS: Giants
AL: WC: Baltimore ALDS: Yankees & Tigers ALCS: Tigers
WS: Giants

I put money on the Tigers and Reds at the start of the season so fingers crossed they both make the WS then I don't care who wins. On a side note I also put £1 on the mighty Twins and was given odds of 100/1. Even a bookie in Scotland knew they'd be sh*te.

When they were 62-67 near the end of August, I told my friend, who was also a Red Sox fan, in a game of "who can be the most cynical", that they weren't going to finish the season with 70 wins. I feel like an asshole. That's a prediction to be proud of, but daaaamn!

Good to know you'll still throw just a little money at the old Twins They actually just fired half their coaching staff today, but left Gardenhire and pitching coach Rick Anderson where they're at. I'm OK with keeping Gardy, but I don't know about Anderson. The pitching was awful this year, and it hasn't been great the last three years or so.
