Mine says August 9th estimated date. I might just go to a local store buy it and cancel my order.

Have I mentioned how much I love Shout's menus? It's almost like getting a new host segment. The ones here are winners. I think Star Force is the best. Yeah, they're great. I especially love the menu for The Sword and the Dragon. ;D Anymore thoughts on the video quality on XXIV? How do these episodes look? They look okay. Samson probably looks the best, although I've only taken a brief look at each episode. The ever-present vertical bars on screen over all Shout! Factory season 3 releases are still there and I still have no idea what to make of them as they most certainly do NOT appear on my fan copies of the same episodes. Anyone have any idea what's going on here? They're worse than tape hits, IMO, as they're a constant distraction for me.

I'm not sure what that is, but when I look at my home copies, I can see it too... just not as predominately. It's like a filter or faint screen over the movie. I admit that personally it doesn't bother me as much, because it such a constant that I get used to it.
There were a few minor tape hits in Samson, 2 real quick ones during the "Who Will I Kill" song, and later during the dinner scene in the movie when they spot the vamps in the mirror... but that was about all I noticed and they weren't so frequent as to be a distraction. So I can live with it.
Fugitive Alien looked good. And that's all I've watched so far.
As to shipping, Zon rold me I wouldn't get it until the 9th, but later said they were sending it sooner. Maybe because I had CTs Rattlers on the same order? I dunno.

I don't enjoy watching a new set when I first get it, cause I'm so neurotic that on first viewing, I'm only looking for tape hits. So, here are my findings... Fugitive Alien was flawless. Sword and the Dragon had about 6-8 little hits that were more or less unnoticeable because of the condition of the the actual film... they didn't bother me. I noticed the same ones that MJ noticed and a few other minor hits in Samson--but again, nothing distracting enough to not enjoy Samson. I haven't watched Fugitive Alien 2 yet, but I'll report on them if I find anything too upsetting.
I'm very pleased with this set, which is good, because I love all of the episodes on XXIV... some of my all time favs. One trend that I've seemed to notice is that the really old Joel episodes are pretty flawless (only exception is Lost Continent really, which was a tracking issue and not really tape hits) and the Comedy Central era Mike eps are the ones that are in horrible condition. I wonder if they maybe used cheaper brand for the master tapes during that time... I don't know... regardless, its really sad to me.

While I don't find Fugitive Alien flawless, it does look very good. Much better than SF:FA2. Maybe the best on the set.
Yeah, it's a good episode selection. Hopefully volume XXVI will be this strong!
