Can't decide which episode to watch? Well, the Info Club just tweeted a link to this website and I like it.

Ugh. It gave me the Unearthly. Good shorts/host segments or not, I'm never trusting that thing again.

Ha! That's pretty cool! I wonder how many experiments are in its database though...I got Time of the Apes twice in a row in 3 random clicks...

Yeah. The unfortunate thing about randomness is that if it's truly random, it's just as likely that you'll get Time of the Apes the next time as you did it the previous time. (Or, it might also be a similar "randomization seed" in your cache, but I confess to not knowing how those things work. That's probably not even a thing. In fact, "randomization seed" sounds ridiculous the more I think about it as a phrase. Ignore me.)

A Web site that randomly suggests an MST3K episode for me? M'eh, I dunno...
Maybe it might be good for a new fan, but then again... what if it suggests Manos? Even inasmuch as I consider Manos to be the gold standard for MST3K, still... I really wouldn't initiate a new fan with it.
Then again, if you're a long-time hardcore like me with a large collection who's trying to make up his mind what Experiment he wants to watch one evening... even then, it might come up with an Experiment that's not exactly a favorite of mine, like Eegah! or Pod People.
I usually can make up my mind on my own, depending on my mood -- sometimes I'm in the mood for sheer ineptitutude, and go for Manos or Monster A Go-Go or The Creeping Terror; sometimes I'm in the mood for a bad space movie, and cue up Rocketship X-M, or First Spaceship On Venus, or Project: Moonbase; sometimes I've got an itch for some Roger Corman and roll Night Of The Blood Beast or Attack Of The Giant Leeches; other nights I'm in a Lippert state of mind, and... well, you get the idea.

Can't decide which episode to watch? Well, the Info Club just tweeted a link to this website and I like it. I tried the "random episode" link, and it gave me Jack Frost. Huh. I just downloaded and watched that one for the first time recently, and I was totally not crazy about it. Trying the "random Joel episode" link gave me Humanoid Woman, an old KTMA episode which I haven't seen yet. I might give that a shot, even though most of the KTMA episodes have been pretty tough to get through for me. Hitting the "random Mike episode" link gave me Merlin's Shop Of Mystical Wonders; I also got that one recently and tried really hard to get into it, but the problem was that the first segment was the strongest in terms of riff fodder, but the other segments were kind of lame.

But, seriously... granted, your mileage may vary, but I fell in love with The Unearthly (a.k.a. The Un-Acting) in the first ten minutes. I really loves me some John Carradine -- and, John Carradine with Tor Johnson? How can you go wrong? Tor: Time for go to bed! Joel: Well said!

have you considered whetting her whistle with a rifftrax instead? i just had quite a bit of good luck with the rifftrax short about underage drinking. you know, the one with the drunk-driving mom who tries to set her daughter up with a boy, and the kids partying with the 33-1/3 LP and the six pack? you know, the short where they don't get around to explaining why underage drinking is bad and they just make it look kinda awesome? turns out that short drives the ladies crazy. couldn't tell you why.

It appears that the novelty of random decision making wears thin, and people prefer choosing their own fates.
I'll type this up for the Experiment Omnibus and tack it on to the end of the Forrester Experiment Archives.

Last week I was thinking I might do a weekly watch of the episode that goes up on the mst3kinfo ep guide, but I don't have either of the last two episode which put the kibosh on that.
