For the record, I'm once again taking the Bruins in six (or seven).

I'm taking the Bruins too on account of DW wanting them to win.

Me too. That, and I hate the Blackhawks.

I mostly follow Wisconsin sports, but I do listen to a lot of Chicago sports on the radio at work. I HATE the Cubs and the Bears, but I listen to them to root against them. I do, however, like the White Sox. I'm ambivalent about the Bulls, but I LOVE the Blackhawks. I still like to listen to the radio call of the Cup-winning goal (that nobody saw) from three years ago:
And they STILL don't know where the puck is.
Go Hawks!!!!!!!!!

That was a great first game. Although when a game ends at around 7:30PM Hawai'i time, you know it was a loong game.
Sol-survivor, that game-winning goal was funny. I remember watching it live & when that happened thinking "Why is that Blackhawks player so happy?" Then "The puck went where?"

Congrats to the Blackhawks. A good series that could have gone seven but the Hawks were too good.

That was an amazing finish. And here's the radio call again with NBC's video:
And this year, they DO have the puck.

You have to give it up to the Blackhawks, they win in exciting ways. Two 'what-the-heck-just-happened?' Stanley Cup titles in 4 years. I admit I was pulling for the Bruins but that end did give me a smile.
Wow, I hadn't realized Bergeron punctured his lung. I give him a that's-bloody-dangerous thumbs up.

I remember in one Cup Final, Peter Forsberg of the Avalanche played after having a ruptured spleen removed.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast! Though hope is tempered by a number of closely watched dismal seasons in a row. So here goes the brand spanking new season. Last year the Carolina Hurricanes looked decent on paper but didn't pan out. Jordan Staal didn't make the anticipated impact. Jeff Skinner struggled. Cam Ward was injured early in the season and none of the backups proved capable of picking up the slack. The defense turned out to be old and slow. This year they bring back bring back much of the same roster. Alexander Semin performed well and has been signed long term. Jeff Skinner has the skills and hopefully will bounce back. Jordan also has them so hopefully last season was an aberration. They brought in Anton Khudobin, a solid goaltender, to challenge Ward. Nathan Gerbe and Elias Lindholm should make an impact. The loss of Joni Pitkanen for the season really hurts. Not sure the defense has been improved. The biggest impact this season is the NHL realignment. The old Southeast Division was pretty weak. The new Metropolitan Division includes many perennially strong teams. With good health and luck, the Canes can make the playoffs. Regardless I am tempering my enthusiasm (and associated pain) by not watching 60-70 games as I've done in the past.

Getting ready to watch the first game I've seen this season. I guess I picked a good time to start.
Go Kings!

Well, not quite as much goofy drama as the last two, but exciting nonetheless. Fantastic that they could finally do it at home. And once again, I found the radio call from WGN radio with NBC's video. This is the two goals and the end.
