I don't know if this counts but Fu Manchu freezes the earths oceans, kills some guy, does some other things I don't remember and his punishment... Nada. He escapes his watery prison and is given a bunch more sequels to kill again. Well, yes, but the bad guys almost always pull that stuff (though Fu Manchu just sounded like a stupid dictator who was unable to admit that his plan went wrong, and just made it sound like, 'this was all part of my plan, another step, in what next time will be the true world-shattering plan.' I started the topic to moreso think of those 'heroes' who because they are considered 'the hero,' are given a free ride to kill people, destroy things, etc.

Fu Manchu gets off scott free and gets top billing in the story. In line with what you were thinking I'd say the rich guy from Catalina Caper. He and his lackey steal valuable artwork and almost get the hero kids of the film killed by the bad guys and his punishment is he gets to continue being rich.

The end result sounds pretty true to life, if you ask me... How about the ol' witch in Jack Frost? She tries to kill Ivan and Nastenka more than once... and her punishment? Chased off by the family dog with a trash can over her head. EDIT: Of course.. she wasn't meant to be a "good" character.

Actually, although the ending of The Castle of Fu Manchu is obviously meant to set up the next movie in the series, Castle was the last of the Fu Manchu films, not counting the disastrous Peter Sellers parody The Fiendish Plot of Fu Manchu made a decade later.

Ohhhh, good one! Let's see...
1) It's a stretch, but bear with me. In Teenage Strangler, the janitor is a crazed madman whose resentment at being fired from his job after attempting to molest a teenage girl has lead to a string of murders. Why the hell did the school hire him back in the first place? "Oh, you tried to grope a fifteen year old, but sure, here's a mop!" I hold the whole town responsible for those deaths!
2) Our favorite James Bond knock off in Agent for H.A.R.M. As Mike points out, he's a serial killer sanctioned by the government. And he too gropes girls.
Do we start with stern questioning? When do you become physical with me?

Isn't this from the source material, the Fu Manchu novels? Fu was a cash cow, so he had to live at the end of each book. It's the same thing with the killers in slasher films.

Isn't this from the source material, the Fu Manchu novels? Fu was a cash cow, so he had to live at the end of each book. It's the same thing with the killers in slasher films. True, but even cash cow slasher baddies tended to get killed/defeated at the end of each installment (the thing is, they had the tendency to not stay dead). I'm like "C'MON, 'FINAL GIRL-DuJOUR'! THIS IS GETTING OLD! JUST KILL JASON/FREDDY/MICHAEL/PINHEAD/CHUCKY/WHATEVER PERMANENTLY, ALREADY! I DON'T CARE IF THE TEEN VICTIMS TEND TO BE JERKS! JUST DEFEAT THE BIG EVIL!". On the subject of those movies, I found aspects of the whole thing annoying. I believe they were subtle "Conservative Morality" propaganda. The folks who croak tended to be worldly kids who just loved to have fun....lots of delicious sex & stuff. The evil bad guy becomes an anti-hero & the real hero, whom despite being, rather refreshingly a girl, tended to be "Ms. Chaste". If she "gets some" in the sequel...SHE'S DOOMED! I think it would be better if the kids were all either likeable or nasty bullies & murdered randomly. Their sex life shouldn't enter into it. Sometimes, it's better just to watch the original 1 or 2 movies & pretend that's the whole saga. It's the same thing that folks did with the Alien films & Archie Bunker shows. As far as they (and I) are concerned, there were only two Alien movies & the last episode of All In The Family entailed Mike & Gloria moving to California....No "Archie Bunker's Place"...no "Death of Edith"...no "Mike & Gloria Divorce"...no "Cute Jewish Niece"...no "Black Housekeeper"...nothing! ...and Ripley rescues Newt, kills all the xenomorphs, they go back to earth, live happily ever after, Ripley's a big damn hero, END OF SAGA! ...and slasher-villain, Angela in subsequent Sleepaway Camp flicks is a travesty. She should be a pretty, pitiful, quasi-sympathetic, mysterious, troubled, spooky, almost-mute who's presumed in prison for life after her big shocking transwoman reveal at the end of the first movie (Would Angela even qualify as a real transexual? He/She's basically a boy who's forced into being a girl). Sorry for the subject derail. I got on a tangent & had to get something off my chest.

The 7 in Angels Revenge cause all kinds of mayhem, including fraud, destruction of private property, kidnapping, theft, assault and battery, posession of stolen property, breaking and entering, probably either manslaughter or murder and more than likely a slew of other felonies, not to mention attempted love shining. Granted, their crimes were committed for a good cause, but these vigilantes were private citizens taking the law into their own hands. As far as I know that's kind of illegal, but not a punishment for any of them.

Look, I dig the idea of a beautiful action girl who fights back like a lot of people but wouldn't all this have been accomplished by...I dunno...CALLING THE COPS?! I don't recall if the cops were in on the drug cartel but if they were then the "Action Chick Vigilante Attack" would have been understandable but I don't remember any talk of "The police are in on the drug thing & 100% corrupt". Also, wasn't one of these high-flying, butt-kicking but brainless bimbos a cop herself?

Rocky in Fugitive Alien is a douche with questionable class but at least he's disciplined by Captain "Wayne Newton" Joe.
The anti-heroes in City Limits aren't one-bit likeable but they are in many ways better than the overall corrupt corporation that's trying to kill them so I'll gladly take "less bad" over "bad" in a post-apocalyptic movie.
I found the so-called good guys to be the ones that should've been punished for not stopping the so-called mutiny on-board their ship in Space Mutiny. How hard is it to stop bodies from piling up when the main commander is sitting right across from you and how do these murders keep taking place on-board a spaceship and no one notices?
I loathed every college kid and partygoer in Hobgoblins so much that I wished they could've been randomly hit by a car, they were so pathetic.
I also disliked how Richard Lynch's character in Werewolf gets to continue to perform his money-based bone digging operations while his other cohort (played by Jorge Rivero) is the only one who gets his well-deserved offing.
And, while it's a monster movie, I did find the authorities in The Giant Gila Monster to be rather sloppy in their handling of the town's failed evacuation.
Finally, you guys mentioned vigilantism earlier and the same goes for both Joe Don Baker films. Also, shame on the cops that won't let him do his job for nonsensical reasons even though they always have enough evidence to bring the bad guys in. Instead, they let the bad guys get dealt with by an inferior power and keep letting Joe Don go so he can willingly take down the entire cartels. Downright insipid!

Downright insipid! The problem is.. his breaks the law in the worst ways to catch the criminals.. that's what the whole scene was about in Mitchell with him radioing in saying his gun was in the glove box and that if he gets shot in the next hour, he was unarmed. He was breaking into that bad guy's house... trying to get shot? I dunno exactly what it was about but yeah. In Final Justice, he was committing torture to get information out of that bartender and kept on saying how he could get the information out of various people if they give him 5 minutes with them. There has to be SOME form of law and order... not just vigilante justice like he says to the bad guy in FJ while on the way to Italy or where ever they were supposed to be going. I seem to recall there was some cop in an old B&W movie MST3k did, I don't remember which... it was kind of a good cop/bad cop thing where one cop says to the other he could beat the info out of whoever it was and the other cop says "we don't do that anymore".

One that I can't believe I forgot. The idiot delivery men from Crawling hand. They're supposed to be transporting a dead body to a funeral home and they decide to stop and raid the dead lady's fridge for beer. What the hell? Then they're implicitly told to not open the box containing the crawling hand and what do they do? They open the box. These guys were the biggest idiots in history and their punishment? Not even so much as a "You're fired".

How hard is it to stop bodies from piling up when the main commander is sitting right across from you and how do these murders keep taking place on-board a spaceship and no one notices? Maybe people are getting lost and tumbling over railings in "Southern Sun"'s rusting septic system all the time and nobody much cares. Certainly there's something dangerously blase about the command crew's leadership. I mean, what's the first thing they do after Cmdr. Jansen finally decides take some action? They assign Ryder to deal with the problem, then throw a big party, then Ryder takes some time out to canoodle with the commander's grandma-daughter. Fortunately for Cmdr. Jansen, Kalgan's subordinates are equally incompetent. I'm not exactly sure what Mitchell thought he was accomplishing by breaking into Deaney's place; I guess he's trying to test his hypothesis that the dead burglar could not possibly have reached for a gun off Deaney's rack. He's right but there's nothing Mitchell could do with the information anyway. I suppose the idea of leaving his gun in the glovebox was to make sure Deaney couldn't claim, as with the burglar, that Mitchell had been carrying a piece.

They were presented as heroes! It was just the Johnson family going to Mass!

What was that one riff... "...she's kind of flat, but I think we can trust her!" And besides, that "shine your love" chick was, like, a celebrity! C'mon! Besides, they destroyed what appeared to be a meth processing plant, judging from all the rednecks running the place. They blew the place up, and killed Peter Lawford, and drugs were gone forever. Angels, FTW.
