I like how Elton John appears on both lists with exceptions I didn't have you pegged as a Pearl Jam fan, either, but there must be something of theirs you like. I never got past Vs. but I liked that and Ten. Was more of a Mother Love Bone fan.

I can tell already - this will be the greatest blog in blog history. Great taste in music BTW (I'll forgive the knock on Queen) 4 hours of just about any group/artist can be painful. Ever try to play a 4 CD group/musician/artist box set at once? Oh I can do that. I can binge on an artist I really like. I can listen to Dylan almost non stop. But I have lots of bootleg for variety. When the Beatles stereo and mono remasters were released, it was hours and hours and yes, even more hours of Beatles -just Beatles- for at least a month (if not longer). This weekend I had the Muffs first 3 albums playing in a row. Not sure how long they were, but that's a lot of Muff!

Was more of a Mother Love Bone fan. my roommate and i used to love pearl jam so much we referred to it as "vedderism," but i'm not as hardcore as i once was years ago. and i pull out ye olde mother love bone cd every now and then. do you like pearl jam/vedder because of their association with neil young? i never thought you would be much of a blues fan, for some reason, but it makes me happy when anyone comes out as a fan. it almost makes up for your slight against queen. almost.

The Neil thing is cool. In fact I think he wants Neil Young to be his father and Pete Townshend to be his uncle. I' haven't listened to PJ a lot but I like them and have respect for them as a band. And yeah, I'm a blues man baby. I gots the Mississippi Delta in mah blood.

that's awesome. i listen to a program every week on public radio called blues before sunrise. it comes on late saturday night - well, sunday morning, i guess - 1 a.m. to 6 p.m.. it's an excellent show, and i try to never miss at least a few minutes of it. i've almost started a blues thread in the music emporium a few times, but didn't think most here would find it interesting.
it also surprised me to see REM on your list. you don't strike me as an REM kinda guy.

When the Beatles stereo and mono remasters were released, it was hours and hours and yes, even more hours of Beatles -just Beatles- for at least a month (if not longer). What's funny is that I was going to write The Beatles as a rare exception. When I bought the Stereo box set, I only could afford one set so I had to go with the one that was complete, I listened to the all the albums in about three days. Phantom, You and I are real opposites on the rock bands after the 1960's, but the rest of the artists we are almost 90% in matches. I'm not a political message music lover, so that's where I diverge with you. I tend to be anti-political so it makes sense I wouldn't like a lot of those groups. It's also I really don't seem to like much of the American rock bands. At least there's no Aerosmith on your list... ...but you can play Roy Orbison anytime! Man, that guy could sing.

i know how you are about videos, phantom, but i hope this is an exception. i thought i had lost it, but found it on an old compilation cd i had made years ago. then i forgot the name of it. but i found it pretty quick on youtube. i could honestly put this on a loop and listen to it for hours.
i have nothing but love for chuck berry, although i've never been one to seek him out specifically. i think i first heard it on that blues program i listen to on npr every week a long time ago and it blew my cracker mind.

To this day I carry a Chuck Berry autograph in my wallet from the 70s. He played at the State Fair and he was sitting in his Cadillac waiting to go on and I nervously asked him for an autograph. It was on the back on a tuxedo receipt for my brothers wedding. After a while it started to get worn so I laminated it in clear mylar. He signed and drew a little smiley face.

The only other autograph I had was George Thorogood but I lost it. But I told him the Chuck Berry story and he dug it.
