Thanks to the new one-game wild card, it's a lot harder to get our picks in ahead of time.
But it's an annual tradition around here, so better late than never.
Cards over Pirates Dodgers over Braves Dodgers over Cards
Rays over Red Sox A's over Tigers A's over Rays
Dodgers over A's
Those are my hopeful picks. What will probably happen is the Cardinals will meet the Red Sox and I'll hate the World Series, just like the last 3 years (Winners: Giants, Cards, Giants. Blech.)

Thanks to the Twins sucking on ice I've barely been aware of the current season, so I forgot all about the new format. I was wondering what was going on.
Pirates over Cards Dodgers over Braves Dodgers over Pirates
Rays over Red Sox Tigers over A's Tigers over Rays
Dodgers over Tigers
I'm giving the Pirates a bit of a run, since they have Morneau and Liriano now and I've always kind of dug the Pirates (still remember rooting for them over Atlanta in the NLDS back in the day).

I'm in an abusive relationship with MLB. I love it unconditionally. I gave it my time and money and my youth. I support it when my friends tell me it's pointless and I should get out. But I stay with the hope that this time it'll be different. And every time, when the leaves change and the playoffs arrive, it puts on a white tank top and smacks me around with a pillowcase full of doorknobs.

Well, I was curious for whom you'd cheer in this World Series. I guess my suspicion of nobody is correct. Sorry, samptari.

While nothing beats a favorite team or, at the very least, uncommon teams fighting it out in the playoffs, I thought the division series and league series were great this year. Some of those games were really good. I'm always surprised how much I come around where there are good playoff games, no matter who's playing them. Wait, you're a Cubs fan, right? Your burden is heavy, my friend

Saltalamacchia never should have made that throw, but the Red Sox got hosed on that call. And once again the Cardinals fall ass-backwards into a win that their entitled and smug fan base will hold up as proof of their inherent superiority.

I've been watching the playoffs and have to say that many of the games have been really enjoyable. That being said, when I saw the first game of the World Series, I thought the Cards would be in trouble. They made a lot of errors which totally snowballed. The last couple games the Red Sox have been the ones to make errors.
That being said, the umps have been under the gun all year about calls made or not made. This is an issue that isn't going to go away and will lead to more calls for instant replay. I don't know if that call last night is one that should be made, but Saltalamacchia should have just eaten the ball.
Before the Series started, I thought it would go 7, now I'm not sure. Cards have the momentum, that's for sure.

I never thought I'd see the day where you'd side with the Red Sox. I hated the call, but without room for interpretation by the umps, it's the correct call (I say through gritted teeth). That said, Koji picking off Wong to end the game last night was that much sweeter as a result.

You're welcome, Samptari. I know you didn't cheer for the Sox. Still, it was nice for you to see the Cards go down and I'm glad my team could help.
I've only been with them for 27 years, so the whole first World Series clinch at home since 1918 doesn't mean as much to me, but after the events of earlier in the year, i did enjoy a little more.

Plus, Twitter is producing many photos of Mike Napoli, shirtless and drunk. This is either the most awesome thing ever, or the worst thing ever.
