It's pretty wild to see Joel on this show with all the other "bigger" names in comedy that have appeared. It's cool to see them talking like old comedian buddies.
I can't see this video since I'm at work, but I'm assuming Joel only did one of these with Jerry and this is that one. I think there was a thread on it at one point but I can't remember where. Either way, if you haven't watched it, it's worth checking out.

That was great. I didn't realize that Joel and Jerry knew each at all, let alone knowing each other for as long as seem to have.

i LOVE that show. and it was great to see joel in a different setting. i remember reading that they had been friends for years, and it was evident in the way they were with each other. you could tell they went way back. part of me was hoping mst3k or CT would come up, but it was kind of cool that it didn't. just joel getting coffee and hanging out with a bud.

I'll argue that Jerry *the character* wasn't that funny on the TV show, but I IMO Jerry Seinfeld and his stand-up routines are HILARIOUS. His bits about airports, and riding horses ("Hey chill out, Hopalong, I know the trail! I'm here every G*dd*mn day! And i appreciate the kicking while I'm takin' a leak!") being some of his funniest stuff.
As the TV Tropes article describes though, a lot of comedians kinda copied Seinfeld's "observational humor", as well as his sitcom style, that people no longer view Seinfeld as an influential comic anymore. A shame too.

There was a "Lifeboat" game on the Ron & Fez radio show where listeners voted on which "Seinfeld" character would get voted off, and ironically, it was the creator and star who went swimming. Not to take anything away from Jerry, but it's a testament to how great George, Elaine, and Kramer were.

I'll argue that Jerry *the character* wasn't that funny on the TV show, but I IMO Jerry Seinfeld and his stand-up routines are HILARIOUS. I agree -- he basically played the straight man in the show, for his crazy neighbors to bounce off of. At least that's how I saw it when it aired as a summer replacement show, which is all I ever watched of it. I thought it was quite fun. But when it got picked up as a permanent series I didn't watch it. I'm not much of a TV person.

It's actually interesting watching the first few seasons of Seinfeld, it's like the first couple seasons of MST3K, when the show was a lot slower, and wasn't as many jokes. Seinfeld didn't really pick up steam until around mid-Season 4. Most people would say that Season 4's "The Contest" was the first truly great episode of the series.

People didn't vote to get rid of George? I find that difficult to believe. In his stupidity and noxious behavior he got to be like Homer Simpson in a way--inspiring me not to laugh but to cringe. I'd say that became a general problem with "Seinfeld" in its last season or two. You got the sense somehow that everyone was sick of their characters, including the characters themselves, and each of the four "friends" treated the other three with scarcely disguised contempt.
I admit, though, that I have a low tolerance for humor that depends on awkwardness and on all the characters being distasteful. I couldn't stand the U.S. Office after a while for a similar reason.

That was quite an interesting watch - I think it's funny they brought up that G.I. Joe dude from Avatar cause that was the thing me and my brother would often joke about when watching it.
And I, too, have a guitar I don't play.
