I don't usually feel "in" any of these movies to start with, so it's hard to be taken out of them.... Well, I'm usually "in" these movies in the sense that they're so frickin' bad, I can't stop watching just to see how bad they can get. Then, in The Screaming Skull, Eric starts slapping Mickey around, and they dub in that Three Stooges slap sound, and suddenly... maa -aan, am I ever out of it.

I was gonna say, if you can't handle "Lake Placid", the sequels would kill you.

I was gonna say, if you can't handle "Lake Placid", the sequels would kill you. Meh. That kind of smirky, self-aware sort of "horror comedy" just gets on my last nerve. A horror movie tinged with humor can be good; Tremors is a great entertainment. Usually, though, it's just two hours of incompetence thinly disguised as parody.

Didn't even know there were sequels. (Shudders.)

Large portions of Incredibly Strange creatures sprang to mind for me. The freak out scene and all the dance and music numbers they used for padding just bring the "narrative" to a stand still. What narrative? Sorry, couldn't resist.

Hm...a few examples. 1. When Richard Kind shows up as goofy, incompetent "Wamthool" in Quest of the Delta Knights. It's almost like he wandered in from another movie, bringing comical music with him to underscore his scene (which isn't funny at all.) Huh, I haven't seen that one many times; it's not a favorite, so I don't remember a whole lot. I'm going to have to pull that one off the backup pile, cop a couple of tokes and give it another look. Yeah, Adam Chance is made of smarm and oil for sure... but, god, that cardigan. What's even worse than Deathstalker popping off about how he's a little handsomer, a little better with a sword, etc. is the scene where Deathstalker accidentally slips into a vague Southern accent. "Mike, were there crackers in the Middle Ages?" --Crow T. Robot Stock footage of choppers landing on submarine decks? M'eh, I dunno. But, still... "They've gotta be a massive organization to throw away a dollar-fifty helicopter!" --Crow T. Robot I laugh my buttinski off at that scene, even before the riffs hit on it. Arguably more WTF than the scene where that one guy says he brought along their nuke because "...it seemed like a good time to use it."
