Anyone here a big fan of older video games, particularly Sega? I feel the need to ask. I've been a member at Sega-16 for a long time. I'm a big Saturn and Genesis enthusiast, and just getting into the Master System. My personal favorites are Revenge of Shinobi, Landstalker, Columns, Castle of Illusion, Ghostbusters, Daytona USA, Outrun, Virtua Cop, Panzer Dragoon, the Lunar games, Dracula X, SNK fighters, anything from Konami, and many others.

I enjoy the classic systems, as well. I still have every one I've ever owned, which includes the Atari 2600, NES, SNES and N64. I also have a Commodore 64 that I haven't fired up in years, as I need to buy a new power supply (just can't find my original). I also have an XBox 360 and an original XBox, though the original doesn't function at the moment. Oh, I also have an Apple IIgs that I got for free from a high school that was surplussing it several years ago. Works great. I was never a huge Sega fan, but I do have something known as the JVC X'Eye, which is a combination Sega Genesis and Sega CD. Played a lot of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure, Madden 97 and NBA Jam on it. My main interest is vintage arcade games, though. I own two video game cabinets (Yie Ar Kung-Fu and NFL Blitz) as well as a couple of pinball machines. YAKF is a Konami classic

Ah, the X'eye. If I were to ever get a Genesis/CD duo unit, it would be tough to choose between that and the CDX. Did you get it back in the day, or more recently? They're hard to come by now. The WonderMega (the Japanese version) is even nicer, but rarer.

I got it for Christmas from parents who didn't know exactly what they were getting me when it was new. We got a lot of use out of it. It was my brother's main gaming machine at college before he moved up to the PS1. Nice little system, has always worked great.
Sega has done some nice arcade stuff, too. Outrun, Space Harrier, Zaxxon and Pengo to name just a few. They also did some cool pinball machines - Apollo 13 is still one I'd really love to have.

My very first console was a Sega Saturn in '95 or '96. I had Daytona USA, Virtua Cop 1 & 2, Virtua Fighter 2, Bug Too! & my favorite, NiGHTS into dreams..., which I gleefully repurchased on the Playstation Network in 2012.

Dreamcast was very neat, Power Stone, in particular was a hoot. Guardian Heroes for Saturn is a great title as well, even better that you can download it on Xbox Live and don't have to track down a physical copy. Oh and Third World War for Sega CD is very fun, my girlfriend caught me playing it years ago and she shook her head and said "this is such your type of game." She likes games too but not ones like that, the ones I like best, such as the Europa Universalis series, Hearts of Iron, Victoria, Crusader Kings, everything that Paradox makes lol.

I had a nice collection of Sega Genesis games, and a not-quite-as-nice collection of Dreamcast games. Beyond the mandatory Sonic games, I loved Soul Calibur and Earthworm Jim.

I've just begun importing Mega CD games from Japan. The packaging and art is so much nicer. They got quite a few exclusives, too.

Daaaaaytooooonaaaaaa! Let's go away!
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Space Harrier, After Burner, Sonic, Golden Axe, Virtua Fighter, just the best of gaming in the 80s and 90s. I own a Master System, a Genesis, a Game Gear, a 32X, a Saturn, and a Dreamcast. Can you tell that I'm a fan?

Never played a Dreamcast or a Saturn, and I suddenly feel pretty embarrassed by that. Not sure when I'll have a chance to do so without actually going out and buying one, but I'm going to make it a goal for the future.
I found this pretty interesting. A guy has put together a series of videos where he plays and reviews every game for the Sega Master System in chronological order. He only has eight episodes complete, but that's more than eight hours of commentary. This series also covers the Mega Drive.
Since a lot of the Sega stuff is unknown to me, I thought it was particularly interesting.
He's also doing one for the NES (which is his main video series) and the TurboGrafx 16. Since I'm not a serious collector, I'm always surprised by how many games were new to me, especially some of the Japan-only releases. The only problem with these series is that the guy who does them is notorious for super-extended breaks between episodes, and with him doing three different series he kind of spread himself too thin, in my opinion.

That's quite a task of videos he's set for himself.
