I started this sub-board though technically it isn't riffing.
Cinema Insomina's mode of operation is randomly placed host segments and classic cheese commercials from the good old days. Maybe two minutes of movie then host. Maybe twenty more then host. Five more and classic commercials... It works damn fine, its made on a fifty cent budget, and Mister Lobo is funnier than hell.
Eagah is highly regarded by MST fans. As it should be. The movie is insipid, the acting awful, the cast inbred. Perfect movie for riffing and Joel and crew tear into it with gusto. But so does Mister Lobo. In his format he more than equals the quality of the MST effort. I haven't laughed at anything this hard in forever.
I don't want to give away the segments but I'll say each segment was better than the last. Buy yourself a Roku 3 and find Zom-Bee TV. Its free. They'll subject you to one commercial before the show then its showtime. Other TV host can be found but I've taken a liking to Lobo. I pimp him on my site.
Remember... they aren't bad movies, just misunderstood.
BTW, if you don't have a Roku 3 you are really missing out. Lots of great stuff for free along with hard drive streaming from your computer, good pay stuff, and even a Something Weird channel for only 5$ per month. After my divorce I plan to marry mine.

congratulations on your upcoming nuptials, sky.
i gave mr. lobo's take on eegah a watch and you are right. very funny stuff. nothing will ever replace mst3k in my heart, but i like lobo's approach. he's funny, his segments aren't overly long and he shows great old vintage commercials and trailers for awful old b movies. it was kind of funny to watch eegah without the riffing - i could hear well remembered riffs in my head at certain points in the movie - like when tom finds roxy passed out in her car after her first encounter with eegah, she screams and he whines roxy, it's me! and i can hear - was it servo or joel? - say i know. i'm guessing mr. lobo is a fan of mst3k as well.
the segments he did with "sheegah" were really funny, too. i've started watching his version of the brain that wouldn't die, and it's just as entertaining. weird to hear all those lines we missed because of the riffing. and you see scenes that were cut out of the mst3k version. not that that makes much difference in a bad movie. lobo has done a lot of movies mst did not pick and i am looking forward to those as well.

Glad you concur. I suggest anyone who can spare $100 run out and buy a Roku 3. You will not regret it.
