I was wondering if anyone here has made an earnest effort to find confirmation of the hotly contested air dates of season one of MST3K?
Today I did. I was at my local library. Had to ask the reference desk to get some microfiche from a storage room for TV Guide. They had 1989, but curiously nothing for 1990. I discovered listings for the Comedy Channel simply weren't in there, either it wasn't listed or not offered in my city (a fairly large one that I thought MIGHT have had it).
My time was a bit short, so I didn't have time to try the newspaper TV listings, unfortunately, which may or may not have yielded more successful results.
Has anyone here tried their hand in tracking these listings down? Has anyone successfully found a listing for Mystery Science Theater in TV Guide during it's first season? If so, did it even specify the episode? Or did it simply say "Mystery Science Theater 3000" without any other information?

Yup - I've bought old TV guides - no luck. Old newspapers didnt have very good listings back then either I'm finding.

Although I did pull this gem from the Nov 11-17 1989 TV Guide article that previewed the upcoming battle between HA! and The Comedy Channel.

I don't like what they're inferring by putting "friends" in quotes. It implies something unsavory for sure; like either they're showbiz phonies who are only friends on camera or they're implying some sexual deviance (which hurts an entire community of people and robots who have found love, something Mr. Lovecraft will never experience with an attitude like that).
