What would you say are the chances of this great show coming back, with all new episodes? Do you think there would be enough fans to support it?

I would say slim to none. We have Rifftrax, and there was Cinematic Titanic. As much as I love the show I think you endanger its legacy by trying to bring it back. Also it was of a certain time and technology that had a charm of its own. I've learned many times in this life that "you can't go home again".

If they did bring MST3K back, they'd probably "modernize" it, by talking about FaceBook, texting, stuff like that. Also, here's how it would go if they brought it back: MSTies before: I wish MST3K would come back. MSTies after: WTF?! This isn't how I remember the show! It's too different!

Joel has been saying in recent interviews that he's planning to possibly bring the show back, probably via online video and with a mostly new cast. There's certainly things that could go wrong, but I'm being cautiously optimistic.

As much as I miss MST3K on the air, I'm reluctantly with the school of thought that says you can't go home again. Even with Hodgson at the helm, I'd be disappointed with the new, unfamiliar voices behind the Bots, and a new, unfamiliar host, no matter how talented they were.
What I would love, though, would be if Best Brains were able to swing some kind of deal with TV Land to syndicate the old episodes. I think MST3K would be ideal for TV Land, as it's a really cool time capsule of its era, even as it lampooned bad old movies of even earlier eras.
I might even start watching TV Land again. They used to be really great, bringing back all kinds of classic shows from the '50s and '60s, along with a lot of the weird and obscure stuff. Then, they started piling on all those lame, cookie-cutter '80s sitcoms and doing "original content", and it seemed to me they were losing the whole spirit of a channel that revived all those goofy, quirky, obscure old shows, and I pretty much lost interest.
Also, while I know there's already one OTA DTV channel that's carrying the episodes -- I forget the name of the channel -- it might be cool if they could also be picked up by Antenna TV, another DTV channel which has an affiliate in our local viewing area (Washington DC) which carries a lot of classic TV -- Bachelor Father, Highway Patrol, Dragnet, Wild, Wild West, McHale's Navy, Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie, Get Smart, and the like. They're a lot like what TV Land used to be before they lost their way.

Also, Mike and Kevin have both said that they wouldn't return to MST3K.

When did Kevin say that, out of curiosity? Last I'd heard he'd said that it felt like it would be dangerous to try to recapture something like that, but he wouldn't dismiss it out right. (Then again, I've not really been actively paying attention to interviews.)

I haven't actually heard any interviews where he says that, but I'm guessing he wouldn't because 1)you can't go home again, and 2)he's likely got his hands full with RiffTrax right now. Same with Nelson.

I'm hoping the new revival will be something like Star Trek The Next Generation. If I'm not mistaken I've heard that some fans of the TOS didn't think it would be any good, but then TNG came out and it became a great show in it's own right. Maybe you can't go home again, true, but you could still make a new one to call your own IMO.

MST3K was like a kids show aimed at adults. It had that element of fun. It was scripted but didn't feel scripted. If the new show had all of these characteristics plus likeable characters I would definitely give it a shot. I've purchased a lot of Rifftrax but I'm growing tired of it as it seems to be a little too mean spirited and smarmy. I would hate to see that in any new incarnation of MST3K.

Even if it is over, the show lasted a long time.
I don't think any of the cast of MST3K it to last 10 seasons.

Frankly I think the show had a good beginning and end, and I see no reason as to why it would need to be revived. Rifftrax and Cinematic Titanic is what we have now (or just Rifftrax now anyway) and I'm frankly fine with that.

If the new show had all of these characteristics plus likeable characters I would definitely give it a shot... Well, I definitely couldn't get into it if they tried to do it with new robots. I'd give new voices and a new host a shot, but entirely new robots? Nahh. Part of me is wondering if the characters of Dr. F and Frank would be brought back, and who could possibly play them properly. And, yeah... I loved that it had the look and production style of a cheap, local Saturday morning kids' cartoon show, like the ones I used to watch when I was just a squirt, back in the mid '60s -- except the jokes and cultural references are so obviously aimed at adults. That makes it even more remarkable that so many kids were fans, and wrote in to the Info Club so often. They couldn't have possibly gotten the jokes, but the human characters were so funny-looking, and the Bots were so adorable that they seemed to just naturally attract children. I was watching Looney Tunes cartoons on TV at a very young age, even though they were obviously aimed at adults. It wasn't until high school that I finally started getting all the jokes, and recognizing all the old movie references. Eh, I dunno, I've not been that bothered -- but then, my own sense of humor tends toward the snide, snarky, and a little bit harsh. I like to recommend their treatment of Mesa Of Lost Women every chance I get. Man, do they ever shred that one.

With Rifftrax around and CT's back catalog I' am not really desperate to see a revived Mst3k. However, if Joel does go through with it I'll give it a shot and hope for the best and if it's not good well there's always the older stuff.

I don't want to see the show return. Joel has definitely been talking it up a lot though.
What I would like is the occasional real re-appearance (thanksgiving specials or a skit at a convention, etc) of the characters/actors. brief ones; just enough content to stir our hearts and memories but not enough to give vibes of rehashing bygone days.
