Over in the "Worst Fight Choreography" thread, one of the folks brought up the Battle Royale In The Lame Circle Of Death scene in Warrior Of The Lost World, and the heavy use of "Kung Foley", mentioning that could spawn a whole new discussion of The Worst Foley Mixing In A MSTied Movie.
So, I'll kick this one off again with, of course:
Warrior Of The Lost World: Kung Foley! The foley artist really goes off-script here, especially with the whoosing wind noises dubbed over the advancing ninja dude as he's coming at the Paper Chase Guy. Not only that, but the foley artist is totally off the hook with the silly synth effex laid in at every possible moment, including the police car siren, the inexplicable weird-ass synth noise coming from a standard-issue late 20th Century helicopter engine, and the even more inexplicable goofy synth burping coming from what apparently are WWII-vintage German Schmeisser machine guns wielded by the Omega stormtroopers. Cripes, man, the foley mixer in Warrior Of The Lost World is like the foley version of Albert Glasser -- a man who holds you down and pummels you with foley effex.

Would the lack of a real telephone ring in Monster A Go-Go count? It's at least missing the Foley technology.
Didn't they riff about the loud splashing footsteps in the swamp from Ross and Emo in Catching Trouble? I haven't watched it in a long time but I think someone mentioned Foley at the time.

"Yes, I made that phone noise!" Man, that riff busts me up every time. That could be the only scene I've seen in any movie where an actor does his own foley effex. Actually, as I recall, there were some actual squooshy sloshy sound effex dubbed in on that scene in Catching Trouble, and one of the Bots (I think) says something like "Emo is a foley artist in real life!". ...and, speaking of phones, I always liked that scene in Cheating where Johnny picks up the phone, and as he's raising the receiver, you hear the phone ring, and one of the Bots says "It's the foley artist calling!"

Who could forget, the ventriloquist pistol from Master Ninja I (at 41:29): B'wah ha ha ha ha ha hahhh. Oh, jeezus, man. I totally forgot about that scene. I'm afraid Master Ninja I wasn't a big favorite of mine. I like how you hear the gun go off, but there's no corresponding recoil. That actor definitely isn't using his "where". Hell, at least the detectives in the courthouse scene in Teenagers From Outer Space knew enough to pantomime the recoil when firing their prop pistols. For that matter, it looks as if the pistol in that Master Ninja I scene didn't even have any blanks or squibs loaded -- there's no evidence of the gun being fired; he just points it and they dub in a pistol shot sound. Man, that's weak. The guy shooting from the plane in Beast Of Yucca Flats has the same problem. You hear the rifle shot, but you don't see the rifle kicking back on his shoulder, and you're left wondering where the rifle shots are coming from. Coleman Francis Just Didn't Care.

I would think the obvious answer would be Cave Dwellers since its respective episode had an entire Host Segment devoted to Foley.

Was there one where one of the riffers mentions that horses don't clop on grass? Which one was that?
Also: Any of the various movies where someone is walking in sensible shoes and it sounds like they're wearing heels, where you hear very LOUD footsteps and they're wearing loafers or something, (or SANDALS!) I think I saw a few of those.

Hell, at least the detectives in the courthouse scene in Teenagers From Outer Space knew enough to pantomime the recoil when firing their prop pistols. I kinda feel like after shooting it they decided the scene wasn't exciting enough, and just added that gunshot sound effect in post-production. And that's not just some actor! That's Clue Gulager, who was also featured in San Francisco International Airport as well as the Greydon Clark (another MST3K alum) film 'The Unininvited'. You might also recall a Clu Gulager reference in the early moments of 'The Touch of Satan' ("Ok Crow, I'm putting you on Clu Gulager alert!")

Just remembered the "squealing swamp"; this segment of the movie has some pretty bad dialogue dubbing as well as noted by the many "who's talking?" comments:

Wasn't there also a "cars don't squeal on dirt" riff?

Wasn't there also a "cars don't squeal on dirt" riff? Yeah, you're right; there's a couple of those that I remember. You can hear tires squealing on dirt roads in It Conquered The World, but my favorite is the Squealing Swamp in Wild Rebels, during the big chase scene through the woods. There's also some really sloppy gun foley in the climactic gunfight scene in the lighthouse in that movie. No matter what kind of weapon you see one of the bikers firing, you always hear a rifle "crack" sound with an echo that's totally wrong for the inside of a lighthouse. Yet another instance of They Just Didn't Care.

One that gets annoying, is when the foley-artists try to simulate the sound of lots of people clattering around.
The best use is when the hired goons climb the stairs, and it's just a cacophony of shoes-on-wood.
Servo: "Oh great, we're late for tap-class!"
The Castle of Fu Manchu also used the same foley-type fodder, when they take whats-her-face away after assisting whats-his-face with the dying guy (see how much I care? I don't know their names!).

"The Brain That Wouldn't Die" when the scientist guy and the two women attend that beauty pageant (or whatever the hell that was), you can hear some weird clopping noises as everyone's finding their seats.
Servo: "Sounds like there's a horse in there!"

How about the all the gunfire effects in "Beast of Yucca Flats"? I've never seen a movie where the sound effects seemed less connected to anything that was happening on screen. In a few shots you can see the smoke of a cap whenever someone fires a shot--maybe Coleman Francis was actually able to borrow a couple starter pistols somewhere--but for the most part the gunmen just look like they're sort of waving their prop guns in the air. Often Francis frames the shot so that the gun is out of frame so all you see is some guy's arm sticking out and looking suspiciously immobile considering HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE FIRING A GUN.

The cave scene in Warrior of the Lost World should also be mentioned.
"What is that, is he wearing leather undergarments?"
"Will someone put the styrofoam down, PLEASE??"
