This goes back a few years. I have probably told this story before on this board and I know I have told it elsewhere. I am a Navy Veteran and spent the entire decade of the 1980's and all the way through 1991 overseas. Japan (twice), Spain and Italy. When I got back to Oregon I decided to see what this whole cable TV was all about. You know young kids with their hula-hoops and fax machines. Luckily my cable carrier Viacom, at the time, carried Comedy Central. Although for only 12 hours a day. But that's a story for another time. I was flipping through the channels in late 1991 when I landed on Mystery Science Theater 3000. I noticed the silhouettes right away, and noticed the wise-cracks. Was immediately intrigued and started watching. Well it was Star Force: Fugitive Alien II. Since I had just left Japan, I was familiar with some of their goofy television shows, movies and commercials. For such a wonderful country with great people, and fantastic cuisine, their taste in that medium, can be a head-scratchier at times. Anyway I caught it during the long drawn out black hole scene so I was a bit confused at the whole thing. But when that Japanese girl jumped up and said I feel good or something like that. Then Crow quips.. Ah shes got Spunk, I hate spunk.. I was hooked. From there I discovered that MST3K was broadcast weeknights from Midnight to 2AM, so the recordings began. Along with Saturday nights at 7PM of course. Been a fan since then, with only a few bouts of general grumpiness at the show.

Rocketship X-M, the first episode I saw all the way through. Of course, I could also count Rocket Attack USA, the first episode I actually watched, but I fell asleep twice while watching it and didn't see the whole thing before I saw Rocketship X-M.

Untamed Youth. Have probably viewed that episode more than (almost) any other.

Well, damn.
It's been a bunch of years, so I can't recall any specific episode; in fact, I had to re-acquaint myself with MST3K about four years ago via torrents and YouTube. I "re-entered" the fandom with The Creeping Terror, and started binge watching like a fiend trying to catch up, for all intents and purposes watching MST3K for the first time, having not seen any of it since Sci-Fi cancelled it 12 years earlier.
I first saw it during Season 2, during the summer of '90, I think; I say that because my first memory of Joel is of him with his soul patch. The first episode I remember at all was Pod People, and even then it was only because of that host segment where Joel demonstrates how New Age music is written.
I watched sporadically during Seasons 2 and 3 and enjoyed it, getting more and more into it because of all the movies they featured which I first saw on the old Count Gore's Creature Feature on DC local TV as a teenager in the early '70s; I was maybe 33 or 34 at the time, and seeing all those old stinkers on MST3K was like going back to my teens.
The first episode I remember really clearly, though -- the one that made me a total hardcore -- was Attack Of The Giant Leeches, which was the first movie I ever saw on the Count Gore show, back in '72, at the age of 15; I remember flipping through the cable guide that morning and noticing that holy crap, Attack Of The Giant Leeches is on MST3K today! ...and from then on, I was arm-wrestling my wife for the remote every Saturday morning so I could watch what she called That Stupid Show Where They Heckle Bad Movies.

Hercules Unchained was the first episode I ever watched, but Warrior of the Lost World was the one that really cemented my status as a fan of the show.

I honestly can't remember. MST crept into my life like a shy little kitten, and suddenly I was enthralled.
I wish I could go back and watch so many of them for the first time: Manos, Eegah!, Monster A Go-Go...

What was the episode that made you a MSTie? For me, it was Deathstalker. Hey, speaking of which, I'm watching Deathstalker now. As for which one hooked me. I can't remember the very first episode I ever watched, though I think the first glimpse I ever got was Hercules and the Captive Women, and the riff I remember first was "We represent the lollipop guild!" But the first one that really got me hooked and when I finally figured out the schedule was Leech Woman. It was the first episode I taped, and it was the first in several episodes that I recorded on VHS. Of course I don't have all of those tapes still, but I have been finding them here and there among my belongings. So I'll go with Leech Woman, but one of my very favorites that I saw first was the Deadly Bees (though many would disagree, which is fine.)

One christmas tradition that my family has is that we watch Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. This was the episode that got me interested in the series, but what really made sold the series for me were the old Rhino VHS episodes:
-Cave Dwellers -Pod People -I Accuse My Parents
All 3 of those Joel episodes were killer! I had to get more! And thus, I was hooked and began a long search for the box sets.

I'm pretty sure it was Space Travelers. They started mentioning old model rockets from Estes Inc, like the Cinerock (it has a camera!) and the Cherokee D (it was D powered!). Anyone who remembered that kind of stuff from the 70's is alright by me.

I don' really know, because I was a kid. We used to watch it as a family all the time. My earliest distinct memory of MST3K was The Giant Spider Invasion, with the Packers won the super bowl jokes. My whole family were huge Green Bay fans, so we laughed so hard at those jokes. But I had been watching them regularly before that. I was 7 when that one came out, and I think I had been watching since I was about 5..

MST3K did not air in Canada, so my first exposure was walking into a video store and seeing Pod People playing on a half-dozen screens. This was back in the VHS days. I bought the tape, took it home and watched it, and I was hooked. The next day, I returned and bought The Amazing Colossal Man, which I found to be just as hilarious as Pod People.
