Whats up with all the cancelled pledges today? Yeah, there's been some conversation about that over on Satellite News: there was one (or maybe two?) $10K pledges pulled earlier on Friday, and toward the end of the day, a $5K pledge was pulled and Kicktraq rolled over to Saturday before we could recover from it, which is why it's currently showing a negative number. Pledges are still trickling in, so we'll be back in the black before the night is over, but it's still very disappointing. Overall, we're still up about ~$67K from where we were on Thursday night, so hopefully there won't be any more big dropouts.

Day 18: Admit it people...you've earned this... What happened today? Usually when we have a great day we have an aftershock. Maybe Black Friday interfered as people went shopping instead of putting money into a Kickstarter. It's also possible that people think the window for the $3.3 million is gone, even though Joel clarified on Twitter that it's actually lasting all weekend as the marathon reruns. This is actually my theory as to why we lost a lot of money today in addition to gaining it, people might have been trying to push the number up by maxing to $10,000, but backed down when they felt it was all for nothing. Maybe, maybe not, but today was just... What else can I say but... Today we made less than $45,000, a heafty 79% drop from yesterday. However we ARE up 50% over our really crappy Friday last week where we made even less. Right now we're sitting about $5,000 away from $3.1 million. Taking into account the under the table cash we're earning that we know of, we're sitting at about $3.15 million. Still $150,000 until the next goal. And for the first time Kicktraq is trending below our goal of $5.5 million. While things look grim now, we're down but not out. We still have a good shot at hitting the nine episode goal, especially taking into account the endgame spike Kickstarters usually have. Twelve is a longshot, but we're hardly doing poorly overall. But let's look at those averages... Three Episodes: $12,000 Nine Episodes: $97,000 Twelve Episodes: $180,000 Per Backer: $114 Let's hope for an update soon from Joel clarifying the Turkey Day marathon and when the window ends, and perhaps an idea of the numbers that mst3k.com is pulling in. But for now, let's just coast and hope for the best.

We *just* managed to work our way back to where we were before the last big drop late on Friday evening ($5K). There were a few other smaller drops along the way, too; if not for those, we would have bounced back even sooner. Hopefully no other big backers will get cold feet: this climb to $3.1M is starting to remind me of the rock climbing scene in "Lost Continent"!
I'm sure that Black Friday shopping and other Christmas distractions are weighing against us, as you say. From watching the totals, I also get the impression that some people are pulling their Kickstarter pledges in order to buy the episode sets from MST3K.com instead. I say that because I noticed a few $100 and $150 drops, which just happens to coincide with the prices of the Turkey Day specials. If true, that money wasn't really lost; it was just shifted to another front. We'll know for sure once Joel shares some sales figures; he indicated on Twitter that these would be part of his next update.

I'd swear that the Kickstarter is purposefully being messed with. People pledging big sums and then pulling out, repeat.

Thanks to Joel's latest update, we now have a number for the Turkey Day and Black Friday episode sales: $85K and counting! The sales have been extended through Monday night, and so has Joel's $3.3M challenge!

He also says the challenge goal doesn't count the under the table earnings. But we still have about $140,000 head start on the endgame.

We've done it before but it looks like it's riding on tomorrow, because today just isn't happening.
I think Joel made a mistake in making $2.75 a goal right before the 3.3. Sure it's nice we hit the half, but it caused us to trail off once we hit that one and no one seems to care about this one. Or we're running out of backers who can stretch that high.

So we'd have to raise a bit over $175,000 by midnight on Monday in order to get the secret prize (missing KTMA episodes?). Can it be done? Joel hasn't said anything definitive about the KTMAs, so it's all speculation at this point. Here's how I read it: his initial tease indicated that "the oldest episodes of MST3K" might be part of the $3.3M goal, but in a follow-up, he said that, *if* the KTMA shows were what he was referring to, he needs to make sure that he has working copies before he can make any promises (I posted an exact quote earlier in the thread). He didn't include any further details in his $3.3M challenge, which makes me think that he won't be ready to make any announcements about the KTMAs until after the $3.3M goal is over. So, I don't think we'll miss out on them if we don't make $3.3M by Monday night. This is just my impression, but I think Joel is saving the KTMA shows as an enticement for a future goal.

I hope that's the case. Not gonna lie, the prospect of having the KTMA episodes THIS CLOSE and not making the goal makes me want to bury myself in a blanket fort and cry for days

We actually have until Monday night (or "by 11:59pm PST on Monday", to quote Joel's update), which seems more doable than raising all that money only on Sunday. Remember, too, that Monday is when Joel says he'll introduce the new Henchman, so maybe we'll get enough of a bump from that.

If he can get the KTMA's rights and decent copies, why not just sell them for $20 each? A lot of the people who have already pledged would eagerly pay another $60 to get a hold of episodes 1,2 and 3. He could even have an option where you only pay when they are actually available. So you don't have to spend the extra money for another month or so. Do the Disney thing, they'll only be available during this pledge drive. We might make them available again but it won't be for at least 2 more years.
The average misty spent over $100. I'd bet a lot of them would spend another $60 to get KTMA 1,2,3. You'd also get some to buy just one and you'd pull in some old school misties who aren't interested in the new project but who want to see the episodes. With over 27,000 people pledging, if half of them bought all three that would be 27,000/2 = 13,500. 13,500 X 60 = $810,000.
Or a new digital only box set at mst3k.com. $75 for KTMA 1,2,3 and the first episode (or the choice of a regular episode or two, or a making of special or something else.)
