Naturally, donations will spike near the end, but I suppose any announcements and videos and such that'll be released in the interim will also stir up activity. Like, if Felecia Day is formerly announced as a cast member and that makes the rounds on all the sites we'll see more action from her many fans. Something like a host segment from the new host and the bots would make the rounds and stir up interest, too - ect. ect. ect.

I wonder what percentage of Misties have heard about it? If you don't read the MST3k specific sites, or subscribe to one of the MST3k alumni twitter feed or something like that, you'd have to stumble across it in one of the small articles on one of the news sites. If I'm remembering right Cinematic Titanic had an email list at one point. Could Joel use that list to promote the new MST3k?

I've seen articles on quit a few online sites for the Kickstarter, including TV.com, which has a large community. If there are MSTies who haven't seen the news, short of large news outlets I'm not sure what else can be done.
I'm really hoping the Felicia Day deal is true. Not only would she be a great asset to the series, she has huge nerd cred online. Her fans alone could potentially give us a large spike.

I asked the question because I have only seen it on MST3k sites or sites that they pointed to. I've mentioned it on other sites I post on and the replies I've got were all saying that they hadn't heard about it.
I can see two things. Cinematic Titanic had a mailing list I believe. Let Joel pay the others to use it. And encourage fans to spread the news. People with similar views and senses of humor tend to stick together. Many of the sites that I read on a daily basis have people who mention MST3k every few weeks, expecting that others will get the reference. Casually mention that MST3k is coming back on sites where you have seen MST3k mentioned regularly could help.

More publicity is always a good thing, but I've actually been pretty pleased with the coverage I've seen in general. Punching in MST3K into Google News brings up a lot of articles on the Kickstarter. I still try to bring it up on other non-television related forums wherever I can, though.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the "reboot" idea. A new generation of characters to reach a new generation of fans. An occasional visit from first generation stars would be neat. I trust Joel to make this into a great show. It'll bring more fans to the original series too.
My fear is that this YouTube generation can't manage to pay attention to a show for an hour and thirty plus minutes. Surely there's a network home out there. The Comedy Channel would be a great fit again. I think viewers would be more willing to pay attention there than ElRay or NBC.
Even though my money is tighter I chose to back to the NYC premiere level. I can't imagine a more cool vacation than this.

If it squashes any of your concerns, I honestly believe the majority of MSTies who have joined the fandom since cancellation exist primarily because of the episodes that were posted on Youtube. Say what you will about their short videos of nonsense (and there are a lot of stupid ones), but that website has been a godsend to the show.

Yeah, having discovered the show just two and a half years ago, I can attest to this.

If, from what I've read, the weekends are indeed the slowest for Kickstarter funding (even though that makes no sense), then we should've seen our lowest amount today of about $55k. Not a big fall from yesterday, and hopefully it can be improved upon tomorrow.

I agree, I discovered MST through youtube a little over a year ago.

I saw that too, but then someone undid their pledge and it fell back below 1.8. It's probably made up by now though.

So it's up to roughly fifty grand in the last 24 hours. If it stays at the rate, we should hit the initial goal around Thursday. I'm hoping Joel announces the cast on Turkey Day, and we get a big bump from that.
