A WILDLY inconsistent episode. The Prologue and Segment 1 are really good. The movie starts out pretty strong. But once they get towards them middle of the film, the riffing gets REALLY slow because there's a lot of movie dialogue and they simply refuse to riff unless there's a discernable, long pause. And the rest of the sketches are forgettable.
Fun callback in the Mads' experiment. Crow's jaw works REALLY well in the Prologue and Segment 1 and his eyes move!...but then...every other sketch its back to skewing off to the side and frozen eyes.
Baron's Tom can't do a wide range of impression to save his life. He can do Kermit the Frog, a vaguely German voice...he thinks he can do Dennis Miller (its really bad, at least I THINK that's him, but who can tell the difference in their voices anymore?)... and every other impression he does is crap. He tried to do a Lawrence Welk and it sounded like crap. And every line he delivers that ISN'T sung or an impersonation is said in one of two ways: Understated and flat. Or AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE and ends in an annoying vocal fry (look it up).
The episode ends on the most annoying note of ANY episode, past or possible future. It goes like this: Tom sings the Beauty and the Beast Theme. Literally, he sings nearly the whole thing. 3 minutes of singing over one of the goofier scenes in the film. And it isn't funny. Then everyone starts yelling because the music has swelled. And they all yell until the movie ends. 2 full minutes later. Then in Segment 5...they're still yelling. And they keep yelling. And then cut to Moon 13. THEY'RE YELLING. AND ITS NOT FUNNY IN THE LEAST!
Overall, a mediocre-to-bad episode. The episodes seemed to be getting better, then plateaued, and are now going back downhill.

Ah, how I missed Hercules. I love me a Herc movie, riffed or unriffed. I have always been disappointed Mike never got a Herc movie, though I guess Colossus and the Headhunters counts in some sort of off-brand way (fun fact: Hercules Against the Moon Men is actually a Maceste movie, like Colossus). I enjoyed the movie and the riffing had that fun spirit these movies bring out.
And worst Hydra ever. I don't mind how fakey he looks, but two heads are supposed to grow back after you cut off a head! Inexcusable!
Waverly finally makes his debut, and his skit is bloody hilarious! Apparently Jonah tried his hand at bot building and Crow, Servo, and Gypsy are disgusted. It's brilliant.

Hercules movies are always among my favorites. Even the worst ones are at least more visually interesting than a lot of bad movies. So I may not be entirely unbiased, but I really enjoyed this episode.

This was one of my favorite episodes so far.. it was SO great seeing them tear in to a Hercules film again! Really hope they'll pick up some more peplum in season 12. Loved the bit with the new robot!

I was kind of surprised with what a small role Waverly had in this season. I guess with him getting teased in the backer updates and appearing in several live videos, I figured he would have a big part in the show.
The skit itself was pretty funny tho.

I don't know if it was binge-watch fatigue, but the highlight of this episode for me was seeing my name in the credits. Otherwise, the episode left me kind of cold.

So, for the most part I actually liked this one. I found it had a lot of funny riffs, I was thinking that I didn't see what peoples issues with it was......then I reached that ending which was an assault on the ears, I dunno what they were thinking but it certainly knocks my opinion of it down a bit. I also feel they really need to be more willing to riff during dialog. That said even in spite of that horrifically bad ending, it wasn't a complete dud like the previous episode!

After hearing about it, I went in to that ending expecting the worst… but hell, I wound up laughing my ass off. They’re all doing that dramatic music thing, with Max it turns into a scream… I about died laughing. I don’t get the hate for this one, I had a great time with it. The opening was very strong - The silly comments on the names during the opening credits reminded me of the good old days. I got a big laugh out of the riff, “It’s PETA, they found us!” as well as the bit where Herc knocks Servo off screen. There were a few lulls, but nothing fatal (and most eps, even the classics, have a couple of those). The movie was a kick (what the hell was with the ending? Usually the hero beats the baddie... he doesn't have some random thing pop in and do it for him?) Good times - I number this one of my favorites.

This movie was horrendous. Hercules can't act, the plot is... a thing, I guess? The Hydra looks like it was painted by a 7 year old in art class... just... plain... awful.
The riffing was pretty hilarious. They've done some pretty funny things with Tom's new hovering ability, but the Herculean slap to the other side of the screen was painfully funny. Poor guy. Also, I wish Waverly would be in the show again! I love the design!!

Did anyone else notice that during the cold open Jonah's eating Ram Chips?

Checked this one out again. I ranked this one lowest- yet it's not really a bad episode. I'd say average with some great jokes. The Hercules movie isn't as cheesy or fun as the ones MST previously tackled, but I wouldn't call it deep hurting either. The characters are pretty lame, with Hercules being one of the more lackluster incarnations I've seen. I thought the riffing was funnier this time, the first time I sat through this I had already binged 7 episodes so I may have been a bit underwhelmed. My favorite moment is probably when Hercules is fighting the dragon. There was a lot of good material there and they took advantage. But there were a lot of moments that they didn't take advantage of for whatever, so this was one of those episodes where I joined in with the riffing more. The host segments were alright for the most part. I didn't care much for how the episode ended. I didn't find the singing/yelling terribly funny and didn't get why it left the theater and continued all the way to the end of the episode, did the writers take the day off?
6/10, the movie makes it a bit hard to rewatch but it's fun with the guys regardless. The episode could have used some better writing though.

Hard to go wrong with another Herc movie. (Amazing that the voice of the guy playing Hercules wasn't dubbed over.) And once again, he's waylaid by an evil queen who goes through lovers like socks. I can't believe they didn't make a Wizard Of Oz reference with the man trees! The Bigfoot looking chap seems to come out of nowhere. I'd seen a clip of Herc beating him up before in the 1981 proto riffing film "It Came From Hollywood". Eventually, every movie featured in that will have been an experiment on MST3K. And how did they get away with singing 75% of a copyrighted Disney tune? The Mr. Waverly skit was funny, but Crow and Tom come off a little too mean here, and a bit hypocritical. They built at least two bots of their own in the Joel years, and only discouraged Mike's attempts because his first creation was a bit too homicidal. I hope the little guy isn't permanently dead.

It was good to see good 'ol Herc again being mocked! The riffing in this one was pretty funny! "Speak!" "ARF!" and I liked the jokes with the Italian accents, the Fozzie Bear reference and callback to Warriors of the Lost World. (Any FRUIT to declare?).
The host segments were decent, but a little too short. I didn't get the joke to the last segment though. For some reason, it made me think of 2001 Space Oddysey.
Overall, a good episode.
