I started a new thread because I didn't see another thread on this. In case you hadn't heard/read, Netflix released a little cross-promotion of MST3K riffing a short clip of Stranger Things, one of their other shows (I've heard it's very good and very 80s, but it's also horror, and I'm not a big horror (or kids in dark movies) fan, so I haven't watched it). You don't need Netflix to see it, it's on YouTube -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkOMAQAcBKEBUT, my main comment is -- I watched it and it's pretty damned good, with the importance here being that I'm assuming this was shot recently, i.e. after Season 11, and I liked what I saw. The riffing is very spot on (which was true for Season 11 too), but seemed a little smoother and more natural. The silhouettes seem very in-sync and lively, and I thought it seemed easier to tell the 3 apart. All good news for all the forthcoming (knock-on-wood) new season (s) (optimistically crossing fingers).

You'll probably hate what I have cooking up if that's the case. Shameful irrelevant tease aside, that was a solid experiment and I wish the riffing would've gone for three more minutes. Maybe Netflix could do another promo where Jonah and the 'bots riff a clip from a less noteworthy Netflix original movie or series.

Really liked those videos! I personally got somewhat of a Muppets vibe from them. And in that show pitch video, “MST3K Nightsss” sounds like an X-rated version of the show where they riff on old porno films.

Netflix released four more promo videos of the Bots hanging around HQ [links] Cool thanks! I hadn't seen any of those but the pitch one. No offense to the huge professional writers menagerie that they had for Season 11, but those were funnier than most of the real show ep skits I've seen so far. It could be partly because they seem like they're real characters, but also cuz they seem like they're in real scenes and not standing in a motionless drab green-screen looking set. Or maybe just because the skits all flow naturally and don't seemed rushed and truncated like most of the show ep skits have seemed to me so far. (I'm throught the first 3 eps.)

I knew the puppeteers would get the hang of working Crow and Tom eventually.

Wow, these videos are great!!! I agree they're better than some of the host segments and feel MUCH more natural!
