Just because I love the biker episodes (though Hellcats is so-so for me),
Have you managed to find the light house in Wild Rebels or the dockyards in Hellcats?

#19 isn't that the same neighborhood the Munsters and Cleavers live in?

MST3K Locations #17 - Manos: The Hands of Fate
MST3K Locations 17 - Manos: The Hands of Fate 1 by Loran Alan Davis, on Flickr Michael and his family stop at the El Paso TX scenic overlook as seen at the beginning of the 1966 film Manos: The Hands of Fate (episode 424), and a full view of the overlook as it appears today. I'd imagine that the Master's house would be your Holy Grail, right?

Oh! I've long wondered about that one. I saw an "EAT" along the Grapevine in California about nine years ago. I doubt it was the one from the movie but I chuckled anyway. Didn't see it when I traveled the same route last June.

Great thread. Several years ago, I attended a presentation/retrospective on genre films shot in Dallas and they stated that the old dirt road in Giant Gila Monster is modern-day Keller Springs, and that while Killer Shrews is always stated as having been shot on Lake Dallas, it was actually shot at one of the smaller lakes nearby (the name escapes me). I have no source on those beyond that one presentation, but I kind of like the idea of Gila Monster being shot on Keller Springs as I live within walking distance of that road.
Some locations I look forward to seeing if you cover as you continue: The "Look Polish" market in Horror of Party Beach (or really anything from that film) and Merlin's shop in Merlin's shop.
Regarding Bronson Canyon caves, films of interest to MST3k fans that were shot at the location include Robot Monster, King Dinosaur, Viking Women, Killers From Space (including because it was a Film Crew experiment), Day the World Ended (from MST3K The Home Game), It Conquered the World, Night of the Blood Beast, Earth vs. The Spider, Teenage Caveman, Teenagers from Outer Space, Eegah, Magic Sword and Human Duplicators. Its ties to MST are very strong.

Didn't see it when I traveled the same route last June. Obviously Michele's dad had cleaned up and opened up a whole chain of EATs.

Oh, yeah, great thread, definitely.
Loran, have you run into any surprises yet where you discovered that certain filming locales you were looking for didn't actually exist?
I recall from a Bert I. Gordon interview, for example, that the ground level entrance to the lighthouse in Tormented wasn't actually part of the lighthouse at all but another location altogether. (I assume the long shots of the lighthouse were the genuine article, but I can't remember for sure.)

They took a photo of a real lighthouse and inserted it into shots of the beach location. The entrance and interior were on a soundstage.

Didn't see it when I traveled the same route last June. It was quite common back in the 60s (not so much today) for many roadside eateries to have an "EAT" sign, even though that was not the official name of the establishment.I'm sure I probably saw more than one "EAT" traveling cross country with my parents in the 1970's, but Stuckey's is what I really remember. Which itself has been referenced on the show more than once. There's at least one eatery on the beach along Pacific Coast Highway that simply says "FOOD".

I can't believe you found Club Scum! Can't wait for the EAT! Also, what was the hardest one to find?

That cargo container probably conceals a secret entrance to some underground lair. EAT was a front all along! Did you happen to find the residential street where Buzz met with the dope peddler?

Looks like more of a ground was added to lessen the drop from those openings. MST3K Locations #20 - Cry Wilderness
MST3K Locations 20 - Cry Wilderness 1 by Loran Alan Davis, on Flickr Paul and his dad explore the ancient ruins where Bigfoot lurks in the 1987 film Cry Wilderness (episode 1102). This was not a set, but an actual animal enclosure at the abandoned Griffith Park Zoo.
The zoo was closed in 1966 when the new Los Angeles Zoo opened, but most of the abandoned ruins remain and are open to the public.

These are great loran. It's interesting to see that with all the progress and urban sprawl of the last 50 years the EAT site still looks the same!
