We all love Turkey Day marathons. The modern versions presented by Joel in recent years have filled in nicely for the lack of proper marathons. But for me, they don't quite scratch that itch. I miss marathons that took ALL DAY and then some. I miss commercials.
So, for a few years now, I've been thinking of editing together all of the episodes, bumpers, intros, etc. from the historical marathons, starting with 1991 AND including the appropriate commercials for when they would've aired. And then streaming the whole thing live through YouTube.
The first part was relatively easy. The episodes are all available for download (the hard part about that was finding the best quality). The Turkey Day bumpers and commercials were all available.
The part about commercials has been harder. Thankfully there are obsessive people on YouTube that have uploaded HOURS of commercials from November 1991. The hard part was to download them, cut them down to size, find an old MST3K episode with commercials, time the breaks, then piece the downloaded commercials into length-appropriate segments where each commercial break goes. And finding the commercial break isn't always easy. 2 breaks per episode don't have intersitials to let you know it's going to a commercial.
In any case, I've finished about 10 of the 15 episodes, and the thought finally occurred to me...is there an appetite for this?
I know Shout will still be putting out the official marathon on Thanksgiving, from noon to 10ish. But I'm sure there are other people who would be interested in this.
What are your thoughts?

Here's a preview sample.
I need some feedback on this.

That looks pretty cool! I actually do have most of the Turkey day episodes on tape courtesy of my dad (he started recording episodes starting with this marathon from 202 to 311, with a portion of 202 taped over and 207 and 306 taped over with airings of 410 and 402 from '92.

Cool! If it's in good condition, you should upload the bumpers and interstitial stuff to YouTube. A lot of what's available isn't in great shape.

I would love to, but unfortunately my old Windows XP computer kicked the bucket 2 years ago, which was my only source of a video capture program. Seven years old. My current MacBook is too small for a capture device. If you want, I can film them on my phone at least.
