The AMC claim could use some more context. How late in the game was the offer made? Was it after the performers had lined up other gigs? After Jim had sold off the set and props? The doc makes it sound like Jim wanted to do more and the rest didn't, but I find that really unlikely. There is more to the story. 1013-Diabolik was filmed in late April 1999. There was a physical auction in early June 1999 at the studio. Quite a bit of large props were sold off then. The online eBay auction started later in that month and ran through the summer. That physical auction, btw, is where/when Mike and others found out that Jim was auctioning off some of their personal property before they had the opportunity to come pick it up. So there was a 2 month gap between the end of the production and the auction. That Last Dance video gives a very clear indication that at least Jim thought it was the last episode being filmed based on the way he narrates and films. Perhaps Jim gave the impression to the cast that after filming the last episode he would field calls from other networks and feel out if there was any interest and would let them know if it was a definitive cancellation, and in those 2 months he never got a call that was worth his while and decided to liquidate. We'll probably never know the full story.

Just a heads up. The host segments from 212 - Godzilla Vs. Megalon are not present on the Satellite Dishes DVD. Maybe the exclusion was related to clips from the film being featured prominently in the host segments. We all know how Toho is very litigious. Or perhaps because the episode was technically released, for a short time, in the original Volume 10. All the other host segments from the unreleased episodes are presented in their entirety. but dont they meet Mothra in 213. would they try to block that.

No, you're protected by parody in a case like that. Also the Melissa song and Peter Graves monologue sketches are present on the DVD so that leads me to believe those are also protected.

Maybe the reason why the host segments from 212 has nothing to do with Toho. Maybe Shout! Factory didn't want to be crushed by the hammer of Orville Redenbacher.

MST was far kinder to the late Mr. Redenbacher than Robot Chicken.

Just finished with the set tonight. Pretty happy with the episodes. Diabolik seemed "tape hit" free. As for the bonus disc, there were major audio dropouts in the last ten minutes of Poopie 1. It's like the audio levels were clipping. Pretty sure it's not a defective disc? I recall it's on one of the Rhino sets, (and I captured my VHS copy ages ago) so I can let that one slide. Parade of Values looked okay. Doesn't seem quite as sharp as my old off air S-VHS recording. Again, I have a decent copy preserved so I can let it slide. Satellite Dishes was a mixed bag. I'm seeing good old fashioned analog tape glitches on a lot of segments. Should this be happening? The It Conquered The World segments are really dark, like the video levels are messed up. (Shades of Rhino Volume 5 Merlin!) On some of the later Sci Fi era segments when the show went to stereo the audio channels are backwards! This is a mistake I would believe with some low rent outfit, but not Shout Factory. This is just embarrassing. I can only presume the video master for The Last Dance is lost. Why else would they transfer this from a VHS copy? The onscreen display of the source deck even flashes at the beginning. The behind the scenes footage was shot on DV, so this could have looked a heck of a lot better than this. Even the Ballyhoo doc has to use the same source, but they went back to the episode for the clips. At this point I'm beginning to suspect Shout uses unpaid interns to work on these sets. I wonder if the footage for the pilot they tried after MST was done survived? That was the most interesting tidbit in the Ballyhoo doc.

If I've learned anything from buying Shout stuff over the last few years, it's that they stopped giving a rat's arse about audio and video quality and comprehensive, suitable extras in their MST3K releases a long time ago.

Ah, poopie! Such a shame to hear about It Conquered the World. Even if (for now) the episode is a no-go, that's a shame on what happened to the master tape.

It's easily fixable if they ever release the full episode. Even the reversed stereo goof is an easy fix. My hopes for Satellite Dishes was higher than usual since the host segments could be used to patch fan copies if Shout never sorts out the movie rights. Still hoping we get that KTMA host segment disc one of these days.

At this point, it looks like they just canceled it.
Which is frustrating because Shout themselves pretty much won't answer which KTMA's are "lost" at this point (though I think it is safe to say K03 is sadly one of them).

Actually, how did Eye Creatures comes out on the disc? I ask since it was my first MST episode.

If I recall correctly, some time ago (maaaaaybe 8 years or so?) Jim Mallon uploaded clips from K01, K02 and K03 on to the MST3K.com site and in order to have done that he needed to have made digital copies of them, so there is a very good chance that this digital copy of K03 still exists, providing that Jim didn't just make digital copies of just the clips.

That's what I've wondered about. Being that they were 3/4 tapes I could see why it would be safer just capturing the whole episode. Honestly though, I really hope Jim didn't just delete the files off his computer after posting the clips considering he never bothered posting any other clips afterwards.
