Like many, I was enthralled with pro wrestling until I was about 13. Then I couldn't stand it and was a bit embarrassed to have been a fan. But I still have very fond memories of the wrestlers and story lines I watched when I did enjoy it. Toward the end of my wrestling-watching days I saw a match on TV with Bruno Sammartino and one of the more modern guys. Sammartino was well before my time, but I was impressed with him right away. Clearly much older, but known by the crowd, I like how he actually looked like he was trying to wrestle. And he came off as a stalwart good guy, something that impressed me more now that I look back on it. I don't think he ever turned heel. Refreshing. To me, at least. Rest well, sir. www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-bruno-sammartino-obit-20180418-story.html

Bruno also came across as a good guy in TV interviews as well. Like Andre the Giant, he was the rarest of breeds... a pro wrestler without the attitude.
RIP Mr. Sammartino.
