Found this on another forum. I could kick myself, as I was just in my local Big Lots last night, and didn't think to look in the DVD rack.

There is a whole line of individual/double-feature MST3K episodes that I've seen in different department stores (Wal-mart had them briefly). They are repeats from box sets and are priced for dollar-bin/budget-price/impulse buys. Always liked finding them in the wild; never thought to buy them since I have the sets!

I've seen these at Wal-Mart and Target before.

I wouldn't have put Season 1 episodes out there as individual releases. They definitely have their moments, but for the casual fan Season 2 onward would be better.

Hey, long as it's MST, I don't care what "crummy" episodes I get in box sets.

I drove over to the nearest store to check this out. They only had Mad Monster, which I already own from the volume set, but I did pick up the goofy Saban produced Ninja Turtles show.

Considering that the potential customer is already considering buying a movie like Mad Monster, I'd say the season one version of it is better than the unriffed version.

Made it back to my local store last night, and all they had was Mad Monster. Maybe Shout cranked out too many copies? Lots of other Shout Factory releases on the rack too. Had to get the Ninja Turtles series, which I somehow missed on it's original airings. Guys in rubber turtle suits beats the Michael Bay version any day of the week. If you happen to own a 3-D setup, they have a lot of Dreamworks Blu-Ray titles for five bucks each. Most will also play back in 2-D, (also some 3 disc combo sets with separate versions) but check the specs on the back.
