I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a commercial congratulating MST3K on its 30th anniversary running on SyFy the other night. It appears it was part of SyFy Wire, their online branch, if you call it that, but it actually ran on the network, and still is as of tonight. I can't find a video of it anywhere (anybody out there have it?), but it's basically just text, no images, stating, "We're all Mads and Bots here" and then "Happy anniversary, Mystery Science Theater 3000" imposed over a big "30."
I know Syfy Wire has interviewed the cast and such since the relaunch, but that was still cool to see. It hasn't run on SyFy since, what, 1999? And they weren't even the original network. As someone who has been annoyed over the years by Comedy Central's lack of acknowledgement of the series, that was amazingly satisfying.
Well done, SyFy.

Well, when Barry Schulman was running things, the show's relationship to the network was good. It was only when Bonnie "I'm Going to Kill that $%^&*(# Puppet Show" Hammer took command that things deteriorated.

Weird that they've been slowly getting cool again after years of identity crisis, trying to appeal to a non-nerdy/geeky audience, and showing crap that had no business being on the channel to begin with. (Wrestling was the biggest offender in my book.) Wish they would show more vintage shows like the old days.
When Comedy Central did that 15th(?) anniversary special, and showed clips of practically everything that had ever aired on CC except MST3K, you know somebody was holding a grudge.

I assume this means Bonnie Hammer no longer works at SyFy?

According to wikipedia, she still does. She oversees eight other Comcast/Universal channels, so maybe she's too distracted to micro-manage these days?

She may still work at Syfy, but I don't think she's still president. I thought some other guy took over years later (someone who infamously remarked that he never met anyone who watched more than 10 minutes of MST3K).
Still, I'm glad that Syfy acknowledged MST3K's anniversary.
Pretty much the only time MST3K was ever referenced on Comedy Central was whenever Jon Stewart mentioned it while hosting The Daily Show, but since he's no longer with CC, MST3K references have dwindled. There was Mike, Kevin, and Bill appearing on the show "@midnight", and i think Jonah, Hampton, and baron turned up on that series too to promote the Netflix revival.
