Sometimes, a movie is so bad, even Joel/Mike/Jonah and the bots can't save it.
What are the worst episodes of the show?

The way most MSTie's feel about Hamlet is the way I feel about Moon Zero Two. I have a really hard time getting through that one. Also, my hatred for Pod People is legendary on this board. And no I don't need to "just watch it again." I've watched it enough. How many times do I need to watch it before it stops sucking? I've only watched it once, but I remember Superdome being a struggle as well. But we'll see how I feel once I get to my blog entry.

Yeah it's a matter of taste. I'll agree with those who don't like Hamlet. But the real kicker for me is Castle of Fu Manchu. That one is tough to make it through for me. I just don't like it.

The obvious candidates. Castle of Fu Machu, Hamlet, most of Season 1, Hellcats, Loves of Hercules, etc. But for me, personally, some of the worst episodes, the ones I re-visit least are about half of Season 9.
From 905-913, you can tell they just mailed it in after learning they weren't getting a deal for the back 9 of the season and the season 10 order was the last they were getting. And there are some bright spots, like Final Sacrifice, but even that episode feels like running on fumes, to me. The episodes are all competent, but the sketches are generally terrible/forgettable and the riffing gets very bare-boned in places. For example, did you know that Hobgoblins had the least amount of riffs since Season 1?
Season 10 suffers from this malaise a bit, but you can tell that they were at least trying in a last-ditch effort to get picked up elsewhere. But the last half or more of Season 9 are some of my least favorite episodes.

409 Indestructible Man 421 Monster A-Go Go 517 The Beginning of the End 621 The Beast of Yucca Flats 808 The She Creature
I had to piece-meal watch each one of these in order to get all the way through them they were so unentertaining - and that effort more out of dedication than anything else. These are the top pairings of 'movie so bad it's totally unwatchable' and 'MST3K couldnt even make it fun.'
I see 'Castle of Fu Manchu' and 'Hellcats' called out above and the movies are every bit as bad but I think MST3K did enough with them to separate them from this list. So I'll defend those two here.

Funny, but my almost unwatchable episodes don't seem to be based on how good or bad the movies are. I just find the season one episodes almost a chore to get through. I want to like them, I really do, but they are rough to me. That's why I have no desire whatsoever to own the Minnesota episodes- they certainly can't be better than the season one episodes. I watched about 10 minutes each of a couple episodes on youtube, and felt like Malcom McDowell in "Clockwork Orange..."

Monster A-Go Go is the only episode I have watched without a single chuckle. I fall asleep through it every single time.

Not many jokes since they were new to the whole idea of riffs. I watch them for nostalgia and to complete my collection.

Monster A-Go Go is the only episode I have watched without a single chuckle. I fall asleep through it every single time. There is one line given early in the theatre that has to do with the coffee being served that is warmer than the body they're searching for. That is the only thing I remember having a mild chuckle over from the entire episode. I see it extremely high on several lists and it escapes me entirely. I have it as my absolute worst of 148 reviewed so far.

Maybe something was in the water on the specific episode. All the mojo was lost there. I still watch it when it comes up on my weekly rotation, but at least that is a viewing of once every four and a half years lol

Good movie, bad movie, doesn't matter to me. Just make me laugh. Monster A-Go Go, Yucca Flats, Manos, Carnival Magic... all bad, bad movies, but with very, very funny quipping.
In the riff-world only 2 movies truly defeated me. The Incredibly Strange Creatures for MST and that Maniac one from Rifftrax. Both movies give me headaches, make me feel sweaty and uncomfortable. Now there are eps that don't make me laugh, but I feel the movie is perfectly serviceable (Delta Knights)... I just wasn't into the riffs. But as for movies that beat me up and killed the good will. Those two accomplished that.
Oh, and the last time I watched Hamlet I actually enjoyed it, got a lot of chuckles and guffaws. So I guess I can't tell people to 'stuff it' when they tell me to keep on trying something I've always disliked. Sometimes, even after years and years and years of trying and hating an ep... the penny will drop and you go, "Oh, this is funny. I see what you liked about it now."

What was that one with Digger Smokin'? Or Smolken? I don't remember the name and the name of the film escapes me. I just know I hated it to it's very core. I hated Hamlet and Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, also Future Wars and Boggy Creek whatever. The later ScyFy (however they friggin' spell it) years seemed to me like they weren't really even riffing anymore, just talking annoyingly through the movie, over-doing every line. (Like a lot of Rifftrax that I've seen lately).
Didn't like Bride of the Monster.
Season 12 is kind of hard to sit through, I haven't gone through all the episodes yet all the way through, just Mac and Me, and Ator so far.
Season 1 is hard at times, and I haven't really watched the KTMA episodes yet all the way through. Some day.
