I've used a Pantech 7040 (Blackberry style) on AT&T for many years, and it's worked fine, but it's starting to glitch, it can't handle a lot of texts from modern phones with pics/vids and I'm not even sure how long my carrier will support this thing. So it's time I bit the bullet and upgraded.
I'm considering a new, unlocked Galaxy s6 or s7 at the moment. I have family and friends that use Galaxies and would have some experienced people for support, so I'm leaning toward one of those two.
I hear the s6 has battery issues and can get hot, but I'm not sure if it's worth another $50 for the s7. Does anyone have any experience with those? If not, does anyone have any recommendations on other models? I'm avoiding iPhones because I have a mortgage to pay.
All feedback appreciated!

I'm a fan of Android phones. I'd recommend the nexus line, but a CATACLYSMIC BATTERY ERROR means that's not the best long term solution. I hear good things about Pixel, though at that point you're probably giving all personal data ever to Google if that kind of thing is a concern.
I mean, their board of directors actually took the time to downplay the "Don't Be Evil" motto in corporate importance. Like... that feels scarier than just being evil and lying about it on some level...
