I'm a huge fan of animation and in my time watching cartoons, animated films, etc. I've seen quite a few stinkers. Films like Foodfight, Joshua and the Promised Land, Mortal Kombat The Journey Within, countless ripoff films, and many more. And that got me wondering, could they add a few garbage animated films in future seasons? Nothing wrong with live action crap, but I feel it'd be fun to see Jonah and the bots riffing on some crappy animated films.

I think it was well proven that animation could be riffed with the Gumby short Robot Rumpus. Rifftrax also has some solid animated short selections, though not many.
It absolutely could be feasible, though it depends on where their riffing sights may head in potential future seasons.

Actually most of the Joseph Lai produced animated movies would be good riffing material.

I don't think "Foodfight" would work on MST3K, just for the fact that it's too talky. Jonah and the Bots wouldn't be able to get too many riffs in edgewise, or would have to talk over the movie constantly, and that film is pretty noisy as it is.
Rankin-Bass' animated Lord of the Rings films are pretty riffworthy IMO, especially the The Hobbit one. Granted it has a nostalgic charm to it, but it's also cheesy enough that it could work on MST3K.

Rifftrax just did Attack of the Super Monsters, and that worked pretty well. I worry Emoji movie would fall into the “This isn’t funny” trap of riffing comedies.

Yeah, I feel like if MST3K were to riff an animated film, cheesy sci-fi or fantasy would work best. The Emoji Movie is a too obvious bad movie and probably wouldn't end up being that funny.

Take direction from all the successful Japanese dubs -- Gameras, Fugitive Aliens, Mighty Jack -- and really, any 70s/80s dubbed anime would work perfectly.

I kinda enjoyed Cool World…
I don't think the Rankin–Bass renditions of The Hobbit or ROTK would be a good fit. Aside from the difficulties getting licence from the Zaentz company, or Newline, or the Tolkien Estate, or whoever has the legal ownership on those now, the sillier bits are peppered in among a very rich aesthetic. That is, if we aren't talking bluesky fantasy here. All the same, RiffTrax would probably do better with those. Plus, I don't know how well they'd do with the songs by Yarborough. Other Rankin–Bass productions also have too much singing, methinks.
Anyone else here know of Peterchens Mondfahrt? The English dub was released as Peter In Magicland, though a more literal translation is Little Peter's Journey To The Moon. It was an old story for children which was made into an animated movie in 1990. A brother and sister, along with a violin-playing beetle, go to the moon — hence the “mondfahrt” in German. Quite a bit of it is rather too childish for decent MST3k riffing, but some of those bits could be edited out for time — entire thing is approximately 110 minutes.

The infamous animated Titanic movie. The "it's party time!" scene alone will likely have the bots trying to rip their own heads off.
Or the surreal, sometimes disturbing 1977 Raggedy Ann & Andy movie. I can't help but think someone at Pixar lifted some plot points from it for Toy Story.

I kinda enjoyed Cool World… Same here. Hell of a good soundtrack. I used to like animation. I really don't anymore. Not sure what happened. Either way, there has to be something out there that would make for an entertaining MST episode.
