Do you have a personal favorite movie genre for the show to riff? One that you feel makes for better episodes?
For me, it's medieval/fantasy movies. Some of my all-time favorite episodes are Deathstalker and Wizards of the Lost Kingdom 1.

I am not sure of the genre, but I really like the modern day (well, modern when those movies were made) fantasy films with stupid whimsy and magic and aliens and stuff. Like The Final Sacrifice, Cry Wilderness, Merlin's Shop and Quest of the Delta Knights. Delta Knights doesn't take place in the present, but all the characters sure seem to act like contemporary and there is a lot of stupid "man aren't the olden days weird" jokes.
I think I really like when the movies attempt to be funny or endearing and just fall flat and become cringe-inducing.
So... modern fantasy/sci-fi comedy?

Do you have a personal favorite movie genre for the show to riff? One that you feel makes for better episodes? My favorites have a theme to them: they're mostly poor rip-offs of other, more beloved and successful movies 301 Cave Dwellers --> Conan the Barbarian 310 Fugitive Alien I --> Star Wars306 Time of the Apes --> Planet of the Apes501 Warrior of the Lost World --> Road Warrior815 Agent for H.A.R.M. --> any James Bond ...just to name a few. Their relationship to and poor recreation of provides an extra layer that doesn't exist for other episodes. and MST3K never failed to sufficiently mine that gold, usually without overdoing it.

Genre-wise I have no preferences. Era-wise, I lean toward flicks from the 50s to 60s.
My only requirement for riffable movies is that the movies actually move. If we're an hour in and nothing's happening on screen and I have no idea where the movie thinks it's even going -- unless the riffing is absolutely fantastic --I'm outta there.
