Was the KTMA Sumuru clip in the after show from your upgrades? Just saw it. Yep, that was the version I uploaded. And no, Ivan never replied back to me...

He can take the time to address K03 but not the other KTMAs. Okay.

Did Humanoid Woman get blocked? I don't see it under the high quality playlist anymore.

Did Humanoid Woman get blocked? I don't see it under the high quality playlist anymore. It did. Same with Hangar 18.

....and yet two other uploads of the same 3rd (I'm guessing) gen copy with no clean up remains on YouTube (though there's absolutely NO trace of "Hanger 18" anywhere). Figures.
Well.... A shame either way. Hopefully whoever blocked those episodes are the oblivious type to Internet Archive.

Ok, I may as well post it here.... A guy on Twitter says he found K03I enquired on Twitter, he says his cousin has the tape, made a digital copy, and will upload it to "an archive" at some point. He's clearly not a huge MSTie, and has almost no concept of what he's sitting on. I've replied to him a few times about either paying for and getting the tape, or just borrowing it, or to pass my info onto his cousin, but nothing so far. I found the guy's discord and messaged his profile on there just now with a longer message since his DMs on Twitter are turned off. But I'm not holding out much hope. I was going to post this on the subreddit, but I don't want it to blow up and people start harassing the guy (besides me, lol). If this guy were really smart he'd get the tape back from his cousin and hold what would be an apocalyptically expensive eBay auction. But as it is, I'm just hoping to get the digital file, at a minimum. Though I'd REALLY like to get my hands on that tape and run it through my own rig. Just thought I'd post it here, because I've been obsessing over this for the past 24 hours and now I've run out of ideas, barring him randomly messaging me back. I guess I'll give it another day or so and if he doesn't respond I'll release it out into the wider fandom than the people that check this message board.

Amazing if true. We may not have a new season, but we could celebrate 35 years of MST3K by having the complete run be known to exist and be accessible to the fans.
But if there's one thing I've learned as a Doctor Who fan: Don't believe any rumors of lost episodes being recovered until they've been released to the public. There are people who thrive on getting people's hopes up for nothing. Hope for everything. Expect nothing.

Honestly as someone who actually enjoys the "Fugitive Alien" flicks, both as episodes in season 3 and compilation movies on their own (and I know the entire "Star Wolf" series in its original Japanese language is on Internet Archive that I do wish to check out at some point), I'd actually be very excited to see how this one compares to its season 3 episode in 1991. I enjoyed seeing the first two see the light of day as a big fan of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's Supermarination shows ("Stingray," "Captain Scarlett," "Thunderbirds" etc), even if "Revenge of the Mysterons" was a pretty big hassle to get through, and would definitely be eager to see this one if it means seeing the entire uncut flick in KTMA format and hearing more of Servo's squeaky Kermit the frog-type voice, and the possibility that maybe Gypsy was also in some theater segments as evident by the opening.
But that also being said, K03 being "found" also seems to have become a meme within this community now, which only ends up being "Oops, it was K12" or "Oops, it was the season 3 airing" etc. So right now I'm keeping my expectations VERY low on this.

Got a response back.
Here's to hoping it is what he says.
But if his cousin's been collecting MST for the last decade and is a part of the community, he'd have said something to someone by now. You don't just find K03, digitize it, and sit quietly on it. You'd trumpet that around the MINUTE you find the tape and confirm it is what it is. So...my pessimism just went up a bit. But you never know. The sentimental reason for keeping the tape also seems... But it could be genuine and I'm just a pessimistic jerk. We'll see.
Edit: Seems legit, see down-thread. I'm a pessimistic jerk, confirmed.

Like, it smells fishy, but...
I did some digging into the guy. He is a legit person, and he does live in the Twin Cities, so...who knows. Maybe Jim or some longtime fan was having a garage sale and this guy wandered by and bought a 35-year old tape without knowing what specifically it was because his cousin collects MST3K tapes. And maybe that cousin only recently got around to digitizing it, and maybe he's on a a part of a small physical media forum/community (like those jerks that put out the original ktma files I edited into a higher quality) and maybe they're keeping it quiet on purpose. And maybe there was a death in the family that both delayed the release and makes the tape unsellable for sentimental reasons.
But that's A LOT of maybes.
Edit: Nope, seems legit.

I mean not selling off the physical tape for family memories is completely understandable, I never tossed out my physical MST tape recordings 1) with it being my favorite show and having so many memories of those tapes, but 2) my parents introduced me to the show as a kid and the Comedy Central tapes I've had since I was 10/11 and in 4th grade around late 03/early 04 were originally my dad's and he gave those to me during the aforementioned time period when he knew how much I liked the show, and with them now all being digitized (with Kolos's wonderful help) I plan to put all the physical tapes (including the Sci-fi ones I made in 2003 when I was 10) in some type of memorial/memory box when the day eventually comes he passes away. So again, I completely understand that.
But just knowing his cousin is a big fan of the show, had the tape, digitized it..... And just sat on it for god knows how long..... Does give off some pretty big red flags.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now but it does raise quite some eyebrows.

Ok, I found the obituary. Now I REALLY feel like a jerk. His uncle died November 30th.
Well, the believability just went way up. And so did my guilt.
Edit: And yes, I understand how creepy it is that I found that at all. Its a skill I picked up in a past-life working for a real estate law firm.

Well, it does sound like he's being more honest then.... Well, definitely keep us all updated on this because I actually would love to try and attempt one final attempt of a full KTMA binge if we're lucky at all to finally get a complete set.
If any rate, I send him all my love and support for the loss of his uncle.
