I know I was just joking from the earlier discussion. IMO, Mike doesn't really look that chubby. I know what you meant and I agree, Mike looks pretty much the same as when we left him in Diabolik.

agh...I'm taping SNL right now and DAMN...this is right in that period of the show I always forget happened...the mid 80s...it's just AWFUL...just as awful as the current cast.
I'm not saying this just because I am a fan, but Joel is by FAR the highlight of the show...he's the only thing that's made me laugh...Julia Louis made me chuckle once or twice...and Eddie was still in his prime and had two good lines...but...pee-ew. I'm sure Joel must've stood out to viewers at the time (I was just 6 years old)...unless there were big Fixx fans watching or something (that was pretty embarrassing as well...what the hell was with that guy's little snake hand movements?).
Does anyone know if they are playing these old SNL's in any sort of order? Can we expect another Joel episode in the next month and a half?

I missed Joel's opening, did he do Agent J?
I agree, that was wretched (The SNL part), I don't remember Joel's apperace because I probably watched 10 minutes of the show when it first aired and turned it off because it was sooo bad!
Joel was okay I thought, he didn't knock me out and he acted more loopy than he ever did on MST. Still, he was the best thing on SNL tonight.

Joel looked and sounded stoned. I mean most dedicated MSTies know he is a shy guy but at the time everyone must have thought the dude was stoned out of his mind.
By far was he the funniest thing on the show. They were phasing out Eddie Murphy so he was light. The rest of them sucked. I am not watching the rest. Although someone should tape the ending where Joel will probably appear again.
Sorry Mighty Jack no Agent J.

It's really random, for the last couple of months shows have vaired from 1985, 1993, 1977 and so on. I don't know if we'll ever see Joel again. Maybe MSTies will make a difference when there is an influx of views, then the viewership will go down after Joel appears. This could lead to more showing of Joel episodes, maybe a 24 hour Joel network at 3:00AM in the morning it doesn't sound stupid at all.

I DIDN'T SEE IT!!! Due to sleepiness, I did not see the most of the Joel episode, only the part at the end where he was jumping up and down. Anybody have a tape that I may burrow, or know where that could get a full episode of the Joel/Jamie Lee Curtis one?

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED???
I SET MY TIVO TO RECORDING IT ON NBC, 1:01, AND A GET "A SHOW AT THE APOLLO" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!
WHERE DID MY JOEL GO???
(However I did catch Mike on VH1, he was great.)
"Can Donald Pleasence never not be creepy? 'I'm going to get some bacon...' Ehhh stop that!"
"In a rather chipper-highschool girl's handwriting 'Hey I know what you did last summer!'

I watched SNL from the first season and it's pretty bad now. As far as Joel's performance it was pleasant but I didn't think great. I remember one where he had a suit with spring loaded things all over it, you lmow those things that jump out of a can of fake peanuts? He pulled a string or something and they all jumped out at once. There was no joke to it, it was just oddly funny. Might have made a good invention exchange.

I think different affiliates aired it at different times. The SF Bay Area aired it at 3:00 A.M. It's definitely worth watching - Jamie Lee Curtis is always good.
But by this point, Eddie Murphy had just become annoying. Most of the sketches just aren't very funny. Joel is obviously pretty young, and his "act" is different.
You might be able to trade with someone if you want to watch it.

I remember at the time thinking Eddie Murphy was really funny but those SNL's just don't hold up.
