This is prob my fav period in the show's history, yet there are still several episodes I haven't seen (Stranded In Space, Fire Maidens, Viking Women, some of the Herc films, Fu Manchu, etc.) so I'm looking for opinions on the best or essential shows of this era to see what I should think about getting in the future.
Would really appreciate your input. Thanks.

My favorite from that period would have to be Cave Dwellers.
So far my favorite period of the show would be Mike Season 5-8.

Yes, Cave Dwellers is a favorite of mine, too (along with Mitchell, Manos, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Pod People, Painted Hills, Monster A Go Go, Girl From Lover's Lane, etc).

I'm ashamed to admit, I still haven't seen "I Accuse My Parents" or "Eegah!"

Ah yes, Mitchell and Manos are classics. Didn't really care for Pod People. I should really get around to getting a copy of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, it sounds really good. As does Santa Claus. But I've Mainly been going for Japanese movie episodes lately. Only need Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, Fugitive Alien I and II, Time of the Apes, and Mighty Jack left out of those.

Any recommendations for (or against) some of the more obscure eps of this era: Viking Women, Indestructible Man, Killers Shrews, Fu Manchu (which I've heard is pretty bad), Stranded In Space, Daddy-O, Rebel Set, Fire Maidens, The Beatniks, etc

Here's some personal recomendations. Killers Shrews Daddy-O Fire Maidens The Beatniks Indestructible Man Viking Women - Are all very good Stranded In Space gets a mixed review. Fu Manchu is an endurance test. But their all worth a look.

I agree, Phantomengineer. I should probably break down and get them all.
Thanks for the recommendations. Really appreciate it. (Am glad to hear someone enjoyed "Indestructible Man" because I'm a Lon Channey Jr. fan and have always been curious about that ep)

It's not likely Indestructible Man would be anyone's all time favorite but it's a solid episode just the same.

Any thoughts on "Tormented"? This got an awfully good review from Don.

I love Tormented. On it's own it's not a bad B movie at all. And the riffing is great. Excellent host segments also but a bit dated. The movie has a jazz singer chic falling off a lighthouse so Joel and the bots try to decide what pop stars they would throw off a lighthouse. It's all old news now but I remember watching it when it was new and everybody they threw off was was somebody I'd have chosen. Things like that really endeared the show to me. So yes, I like Tormented.
