Nope, I retired. I wouldn't mind recording again, but I just got tired of the road. I used to use a simple Marshal stack and plugged in the Big Muff and a pedal. I never did have the big amps and stack and stacks of the other stuff and I still had a rep as being one loud SOB. But on a smaller scale, acoustic sets, I plug direct into the board. The FX are all there if I want them. I can also plug in a drum machine (when I feel like programing it) and just play with myself all day. I love the Mackee power speakers (as opposed to the Board giving the power) I get a nice crisp, strong sound.

Director, author, guitar player. You are a triple threat! Ha! You forgot "MSTie"! God- am so far away from being a "threat" on the guitar. Years to go but I am having fun. Just learned the requisite first tune for guitar geeks- the intro to Stairway to Heaven!

My toys are: A Taylor 714CE, with maple sides and back. A gold Stratocaster with double-fat Seymour Duncan pickups, and a rosewood neck. A custom, 5-string, fretless bass. Custom built for me by this guy: www.devonguitars.com. My model looks like this www.devonguitars.com/gmodel.html. I'll post pics soon.

Oops. Forgot to add:
A DW Maple 5-piece drum kit with Zildjian A-Custom cymbals.
And a Fender Tremolo Twin Tube Amp. With a homemade pedal board consisting of Wah, Delay, Reverb, Uni-Vibe, and Big Muff pedals.

My only advice to new players is learn the 12 bar Blues progression. It doesn't even matter if you like the Blues. It's like the Rosetta Stone of music. If poeple get together that don't know the same songs you can always improvise on a 12 bar.

I have a few guiitars, a couple of Peavey Predators (got one for $100 in a pawnshop), an Epiphone Les Paul, some kind of custom Carvin (my dad gives me this stuff when he gets tired of it, or his house gets too crowded w/guitar stuff. He can only get new amps etc if he gets rid of something he already has. He gives me his old stuff for birthdays etc, but then of course he gets himself something better...) But i mostly play my ovation acoustic, which looks like a Church-camp sing-a-long guitar but sounds nice and I really like the rounded back. My Carvin 200w amp is broken and I've got a blown Peavey the size of a couple of dictionaries. I really am not into guitars the way some people are, I just enjoy writing and playing and sometimes recording music. been playing for about nine years, have written many songs, compiled several "albums." It's fun. edit: etc etc

Hey thanks for resurrecting this thread Cornjob. I always like to hear from new members/players. If you read the first part of the thread you know I am a dedicated Telecaster man.

No problem phantom. I don't know if I'l l hang around this thread much though; my Dad almost puts me to sleep with his guitar jabber. I'm more into the musical side of it than the instrument-worship side. But, I'm glad people play instruments, I can't imagine not knowing how to make music.

I like the classic guitars, Fender, Gibson. Gretsch. But I'm really into small power tube amps. I just love those things.
