Holy cow is this difficult.
Bride of the Monster, the two Rocky Jones episodes, Eye Creatures... and the rest are fantastic, too.
In the end, though, I had to go with Fire Maidens. I taped it when it first came out and proceeded to watch it 10 times in a row, it cracked me up so much. The host segments were, for my money, the best of any episode, bar none.
And the movie itself -- unabashed piggish chauvanism, "Smoking: like fiends!" Endless walking scenes. Cy Roth's name trumpeted approximately two thousand times in the opening credits. Great material to riff on, and -- appropriately -- fantastic riffing.

I'm shocked (SHOCKED!) to find that people don't think highly of season 4. I'm not saying those people are stupid, just wrong. No, seriously, to each his own. But I'm flabbergasted because I count at least 10 episodes from season 4 as personal favorites; eps that stand up to anything else in the run of the show. I defy anyone to tell me the following eps aren't great (or at least better-than-average):. I live to defy... Giant Gila Monster The Magic Sword Tormented The Beatniks Fire Maidens Attack of the Eye Creatures The Rebel Set The Human Duplicators Monster A-Go-Go The Day the Earth Froze I love Duplicators and Monster A-Go-Go. I don't find the Beatniks that funny. The rest are solid I agree, but not episodes that double me over with hilarity. Good, often funny, but nothing devastating or that would find themselves in my top 20. Sorry, but I am the defiant one

Sorry, but I am the defiant one And I used to respect you... But a quick perusal of your review website shows you gave many of those listed a "Gold" rating. So you're sort of being defiant, but not really.

But it's hard with MST3K Even though I'd rank other seasons higher than 4, this shows so great that it's like saying I prefer chocalate pie to chocolate donuts. It's chocolate, I'll take it all!

By far, The Day the Earth Froze is my favorite. The movie is oddly charming and quite watchable without MST3K, though that doesn't stop J&tB from riffing it thoroughly. And it also has one of the best shorts ("Yes! More! More! I'm a bad clown!")
