I'm not paying ridiculous prices for the original Volume X, just for Godzilla, and being too cheap to spring for the going rate on the out of print single episodes (Cuba, Bat Women, grasshoppers, etc.) should I just consider my collection realistically "complete", or do you guys see one last hurrah for Shout..."" Red Zone Cuba, The Wild World Of Batwoman, and The Beginning of the End are not out of print, they're just exclusive to the Shout Factory website. Go check to see if there's anything else you want to get there: www.shoutfactory.com/collection/mst3k

Thanks ! For some reason I was thinking they were priced ridiculously. Must have been checking Ebay. Didn't even bother to check Shout.

So, take this with a huuuge grain of salt, but forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=322711A poster in this thread (who has posted insider-ish information in the past that has turned out to be true) is claiming a boutique label has finally worked out a deal for Susan Hart's titles and will be released next year. The hinting seems to be pointing at either Shout or Kino. If it does turn out to be Shout, this could be big news for finally getting official release of her episodes. Again, this is vague rumor-y info (and even if it's true, that doesn't mean we're getting the MST3K episodes), but I thought I'd pass it along just as something for this thread.

I'll take it with a can of Spam's worth of salt but hopefully this is finally happening! My concern is would Susan even be willing to play ball on the MST versions?

It would have to be a king's ransom to crack Susan. A crap-ton of cash up front, BIG residuals, remastered blu ray special edition releases. The whole nine yards. And that's probably WITHOUT the MST3K versions.
However, she's not like Wade; she just wants gobs of cash. She doesn't have an outsized sentimental feeling for these films. So perhaps the MST versions aren't a big affront to her like 201 is to Wade. So technically, she WOULD be the first to crack between her and Wade.
Have our predictions finally happened after all these years? Has grandma finally realized that this is her LAST chance to make ANY money on these moldering old films before she passes on to the big B-movie in the sky?
On the other hand, if it IS Kino that won out...that'd be a real kick in the pants to Shout.

MSTie considerations aside, both labels do terrific work. The films will likely look very nice.

I think that if Kino was able to crack the armor, it would be possible that Shout would be able to get the MST episodes as a follow-up.
I'm starting to think that at the end of 2020, there will just be the 2 or 3 episodes that can never be released left in the first post of this thread.

God I hope so. I'll take having just two go unreleased.

As we know from the fact that the official Youtube channel also has a clip from ROCKETSHIP X-M, this doesn't necessarily signal anything, but it is nice to see some reference quality video of a DELTA KNIGHTS theater segment:

if they never find the owner (and did there best at finding it) could Shout Factory go to a judge and have it declared an Orphan work. The issue with using the film without approval from the copyright owner is that they can sue you. There is a law about commercial use of Orphaned work in sound recordings, it's part of the "Music Modernization Act", but I don't think there's currently a similar law which applies to film, so I don't think that making it an orphaned work would change Shout's potential liability if they released it.

SixtyFours on Reddit noticed that on the Twitch MST3K stream video that the Gamera episodes art are at the bottom: Not sure if this means anything good, but i’m more leaning to the side of they just commissioned Steve Vance to just do art for every episode just in case.

The Gamera episodes have art because those episodes were released on Volume 21.

Shout said that they didn't want to pay for new art for the Rhino-released episodes (among other expenses that they cited), so unfortunately I don't think this happened.
