Damn can't believe i missed this news. I had to go over to MST3Kinfo.com because this is what they do best now: obituaries www.mst3kinfo.com/?p=32961Claims he had no family to pass his estate onto so can't feel bad about any grave dancers when there's no one to get upset about it. Who knows where the rights to X-M will wind up and when.

Makes sense as to why there's no obituaries. Guy went out like Charles Foster Kane: alone, surrounded by his cold, unfeeling estate and possessions.
"Rocketship XM..."

He’ll certainly be having a temper tantrum up in the skies if the episode is lucky at all to have any official commercial release.

Yeah imagine him exploring the endless wonder of the infinity that the afterlife has to offer but then it all coming to a screeching halt because of his obsession over someone prying the license for some old rocketship movie from his cold dead hands.

Confirmed by Wade's music manager: www.tapatalk.com/groups/monsterkidclassichorrorforum/viewtopic.php?p=1769543#p1769543And found this tweet about Jolly old Wade: As well as this little tidbit about a Plan 9 screening: disq.us/p/2squuszMakes some of the comments about how he "was important in preserving 50's Sci-Fi flicks" in that above thread kinda silly NGL.

I just realized….. this has now aged completely like fine wine: He'll disappear forever long before the episode does. I mean….. granted, it WAS bound to happen eventually - the circle of life after all. But I guess none of us really expected this would happen nine months later when we had our (justified) grumbling moments with Wade’s entitlement to this movie.

That DVD is probably out of print and I imagine the company that distributed it no longer has the rights to the film.

Worth a try I suppose.

I suspect Rocketship XM will fall into the public domain. I mean, who else was claiming ownership? What's to stop Shout from putting it out at this stage? Time will tell, I suppose. For example, Wade "owned" Night of the Ghouls, and that was just riffed by The Mads.

Oooh, The Mads should re-riff Rocketship X-M!

Yeah, watch Wade’s now-non-existing blood pressure go up in the skies from seeing it get re-riffed. 🤣

Wade did have a company. There are guys that worked for him that I'm sure are now running that company that have the legal obligations, rights and means to still protect certain assets. Perhaps not as vociferously as Wade himself did, but they still do exist.
It's not going to fall into the public domain for another ~25 years. Releasing it would involve too much of a risk. Rhino learned that lesson when they released the Godzilla movie.

All true, but then there's a very good chance that wade's company is gone by this time next year because he was the only one that really cared at all, and then the movies will be unprotected.
---if that long. I tried to look up his company and all you can find is a website and a facebook page, and the business address given on the website is just a residential house in Kansas City, I'm guessing just his personal home.
