why did they never do Plan 9 From Outer Space? Too much dialogue. Too hard to riff. Those are the reasons they gave.

I heard they got the rights to use "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin" on MST3K but only when WB decided they'd made as much money from them as they could so they took the rights back. This is total BS. No way would WB jeapodize a film franchise that could be rebuilt from scratch (which they eventually did), by having it on a small cult TV show.

I made this list, because it's a commonly asked thing. I know it's incomplete, and probably more knowledge could be given on the subject.
NOTE: This list is incomplete for right now. I know there is another short which name fails to come to mind that was going to be on the CD Rom. Some Sci-Fi movie starring Leonard Nimoy also was mentioned by Mary Jo Phel, but I forgot the name too. After that I will consider my part of the list complete.
LIST OF KNOWN MOVIES SCREENED BY MST3K
Mars Needs Women A Larry Buchanan (the man who brought us Attack of the The Eye Creatures and In The Year 2889) film, and one of his few movies that wasn’t a remake of a Corman picture. It follows Tommy Kirk leading a group of horny intergalactic teenage aliens in a quest to conquest earth.....’s women. One of the women being Batgril, Yvonne Craig. Joel said that this was the perfect movie for MST3K. It’s likely they simply could never get the rights to the film. This was said in an article shortly before MST3K debuted on the Comedy Channel.
Plan 9 From Outer Space The infamous Ed Wood movie, and infamous “Worst Movie of All-Time” according to the Golden Turkey Awards. One of the most commonly asked questions about Mystery Science Theater 3000 is why they never did Plan 9 from Outer Space. Various interviews reveal they screened the movie. The main reason they never did this movie, is Criswell’s narration leaves little room for riffs Also they like to stay away from known movies (but it didn’t stop them from doing Marooned). No idea when it was screened.
Radar Secret Service It was mentioned being screened in season two, but used in season five when they ran out of movies to riff. It did eventually become an episode. This is mentioned by Kevin Murphy in the ACEG. It’s also likely that The Last of the Wild Horses was also screened in season two, because it is a Lippert film, which was a common movie source in season two.
The Neptune Factor Starring Ben Gazzara and Ernest Borgnine, this movie is about a search for an underwater laboratory lost underwater. It was considered too slow. They had a poster of it in the lunchroom at one point in some behind the scene specials. I heard about this on RATMM.
Night of the Lepus Many assume it was, so I’ll put it here. The movie is killer bunny movie starring DeForest Kelly. It was mentioned along with The Beast of Yucca Flats as a training movie for Mike, so they were probably screening those movies around that time.
World Without End The movie is one of those nuclear warning films about a group of astronauts caught in a timewarp and landing in a post apocalyptic earth. Kevin Murphy stated that he wanted this for MST3K: The Movie, but they couldn’t get the rights. It was used at the first Convention Con for a live show with Joel.
The Mesa of the Lost Women This movie has Uncle Fester himself- Jackie Coogan as a mad scientist. He wants to create a race of superwomen by injecting them with Spider venom. This was mentioned in the ACEG as a movie that is screened several times the MST3K gang, but repeatedly turned down. One specific screening was before season seven.
Terror of Tiny Town The infamous all midget western from the director of I Accuse My Parents, along with other films. Another movie mentioned as being screen in season seven, and several times before that, and always being rejected. Apparently they thought they could not riff on dwarves for two hours, according to another interview.
Trog Joan Crawford stars in this movie about a creature killing people in England. In ACEG it was mentioned as a movie viewed before season seven.
Wild Guitar Ray Dennis Steckler makes his directorial debut in this movie starring Arch Hall Jr. as a musician again. However no Richard Keil. In ACEG it was mentioned as a movie viewed before season seven.
Curse of the Doll People Doll men go after a bunch of people for stealing some idol from a Aztec Temple. In ACEG it was mentioned as a movie viewed before season seven, probably because it was a Mexican movie, and only Frank liked those.
From Hell It Came Sometime before the seventh season, Mary Jo Pehl screened this film. She mentioned it’s premise (a bush monster) in the Whither Season Seven section of the Amazing Colossal Episode Guide.
Starship Invasions A group of aliens look for a new place for their populous as their planet begins to die. Features Robert Vaughn and Christopher Lee. It was mentioned by in the Amazing Colossal Episode Guide by Mary Jo Pehl as one they were attempting to obtain along with The Incredible Melting Man and Laserblast.
The Body Snatchers Apparently some version of the Body Snatchers was offered by Sci-Fi to Best Brains, but they refused it. My guess is it was the original and they thought it didn’t deserve to be riffed. Though it did serve as basis for host segments in Giant Spider Invasion. I got this tidbit from RATMM.
The Day of the Triffids A meteor makes most of the world go blind. A group of plant monsters (what is it with director’s of movies worse so bad that they can’t even get on MST3K and plant monsters?) begin to attack on a vulnerable world. A TV Guide article during the SciFi era mentioned this (under the name Night of the Triffids) as one under consideration for use in an episode.
Child Brides This movie was given as an example by Mike Nelson & Kevin Murphy as a movie too bad for even MST3K during their interview with Rhino on the Volume 5 DVD. No idea when it was previewed.
LIST OF MOVIES SCHEDULED FOR MST3K
Thunderbirds to the Rescue This was a couple of Thunderbirds episodes reedited into a faux movie. Originally suppose to be the debut episode according to early commercials for the show.
The Green Slime According to an early commercial for the show, this movie was suppose to be a fully produced episode, but it never happened.
An unknown movie was scheduled to be episode 104, but BBI lost the rights, which forced them to skip the production number, and then use it as the end of the season for Women of the Prehistoric Planet. WOTPP may have been the unknown movie, and it was simply pushed to the back of the season, but I’m not sure.
Charro! An Elvis Presley western. Originally scheduled to be episode 421 (instead of Monster a-Go Go) according to some episode lists on RATMM. They gained the right but eventually they got lost. They said the movie was out of their budget. Mary Jo Pehl expressed disappointment in an interview with the MST3K Review about losing the rights.
Moment by Moment A weird romance movie from Universal, about a May-December relationship between John Travolta and Lily Tomlin. Likely viewed and scheduled for the sixth season when BBI and Universal were talking about the movie (they did get two film from Universal that season, Kitten with a Whip and the pilot for San Francisco International [produced by the television division]). They got the rights then apparently lost them.
Beyond the Bermuda Triangle Fred MacMurray stars as a businessman who investigates the Bermuda Triangle after a bunch of his planes and ships disappear in it. Also features Dana Plato. Originally suppose to be episode 623 according to some episode lists on RATMM.
Master Ninja III The third installment of Master Ninja III, was scheduled as episode 624, but for whatever reason it was not produced.
Aiport ‘75 Heavily rumored this was going to be used during the live show for the second convention, until the show was cancelled due to Trace’s pulling out.
Assignment: Venezuela This was going to be for the MST3K CD-Rom that never came to be.
The Land Unknown Originally scheduled as episode 803. Kevin Murphy mentioned it was going to be riffed during the season on an online discussion. Apparently production had already started on the episode before it was halted.
EPISODE PRODUCTION SCHEDULES CHANGING Quest of the Delta Knights was going to be episode 905, but it got pushed to the end of the season. Apparently they lost the right then regained them. “Manos” The Hands of Fate and Bride of the Monster were going to originally be in each other places, but were flipped sometime before the fourth season ended. Night of the Bloodbeast was suppose to be paired with the short Chicken of Tomorrow, but the short was moved to the second episode. Zombie Nightmare’s production schedule didn’t change, but it’s debut was held off to coincide with Adam West hosting Turkey Day.
MOVIES THAT HAVE BEEN CONFUSED AS TO BEING ON MST3K Thunderbirds from Outer Space This movie according to TV Guide was the first episode of MST3K, but it never aired according to the ACEG. Many thought footage from Invaders of the Deep was from this movie. It was also featured in the same commercial that mentioned the other Thunderbirds film, and The Green Slime. It was commonly on episode speculation lists, until the ACEG put that all the rest.
The Chill Factor- Many early KTMA episode speculation lists listed this as being on MST3K at some point. The Amazing Colossal Episode Guide never had it on their list and no episode has been found of it. It was typically put in the middle of the season.
Death of a Ninja II- Early information released by Best Brains listed this in place of Master Ninja II. However it was just an incorrect listing.

I've heard stories of them trying to get Master Ninja 3 but went for Samson Vs. the Vamprie Women instead. No, they could've had Master Ninja III if they wanted, but Best Brains, Inc. decided, like Commando Cody and The Radar Men From The Moon before it, they were sick of it.

I thought Mary Jo said they wanted to do Mesa Of The Lost Women but could not get the rights.

But since we're on the subject (well, sorta), wasn't Billy Jack under serious consideration at one point?

Speaking of old members, a few months back I stumbled on the board's creator Forrest Rice's Patreon page where he was asking for donations for short films. It's been up for a little over a year and he only gets a couple of bucks on it, unfortunately for him. That's all I've heard from the guy since he jumped ship, but it was interesting to find out what he's been up to. EDIT: Here's a blast from the past for ya - web.archive.org/web/20080322045635/http://mst3kreview.com/

The Leonard Nimoy movie referred to earlier is "Baffled!", a failed pilot Nimoy filmed in England. During his appearance at the Museum of TV & Radio, Mike confirmed that they wanted this one, but couldn't secure the rights.
