1st episode I ever saw and will always have a place in my heart. It stays funny even after so many repeated viewings. "My lust for violence cannot be sated!"

I remember seeing it when it aired.
Years later, after taking a break from the show, I saw the VHS for sale and I remembered loving it. I bought the tape, and started watching again. It was a "classic" for me before I knew what other people thought.
Years later, I showed the DVD to some friends as an introduction to the show. They fell asleep 20 minutes into it. As I sat there, embarassed, I realized just how sllloooooowww the first half of that movie is. I kept telling them, "Wait until you see the recording studio scene..." By the time it came on, they were asleep.
So no, I don't think it's overrated. But I also don't think of it with as much enthusiasm as I used to.

Not overrated at all. This is one of the great episodes in the run of the show. Saying that you have a hard time liking it because the show got faster paced in later years is like saying that you can't enjoy Rubber Soul because it's not as densely packed as The White Album. "Don't worry, she'll be all right. With a good night's rest she'll be as right as rain in the morning." "Yeah, that's what cures a crushed spine!" "Hey wait, those aren't deer!" "Well, let's shoot 'em. They're not wearing orange." I wasn't. Some of my favourite episodes are from Season 2.

... The former being so creepy and the latter so, in my opinion, positive and upbeat. (Caaaaaall me/ Call me and tell me you loooooooove me....) That's one of those songs I'm embarrased to like. I haven't been able to find anything about it. This is one of my favorite episodes, especially because that ditzy bosses daughter looks like a friend of mine. And she's ok with that.

I suppose another thing is, this episode's got variety. Even if you don't like it, it's hard not to find a factor to keep you going.

Is it overrated?
Judging by the sound of my non stop explosive laughter when I watch it?
Um, no.

Well, I would rate it better than average but short of fantastic. I always get a little bored with Pod People when movies A and B combine and movie C dies off {or where the hunters in movie B?}.

"Pod People" is definatley not overrated. It's one of the funniest episodes of the show, and it has a special place for me because it was the first Joel episode I ever saw (I was a fan of MST3K when Mike was the host, and my dad kept telling me about Joel, and I was like "Who in the world is Joel?", so we rented this from Blockbuster...and I found out. ;D ). "Idiot in Control Now" is a classic host segment; probably the best of the whole show.

Absolutely. I always felt that it and Cave Dwellers were over-rated. Ironically (or not) the host sequences are among the funniest of that season..

"Cave Dwellers" was on my overrated list too, but I gave it another try Sunday night, and it was actually really good. Now "Manos" is completely different story. If you want an overrated episode, try that one. I still don't see what's so great about it.
