Ah, it. No modifiers. No antecedent. Just it. Here's a fun game: Go through your day today not providing any antecedents to your pronouns. See how long until someone gets so annoyed that they just punch you in your nose. I mean, see how long until he punches you in it. As for the episodes, let's look at It scientifically: - One is a werewolf/bear hybrid that's also a bat, somehow. The other is a pickle monster.
Neither is a murderous clown, and I say thank God for that.
- One attacked Beverly Garland. The other attacked Mary Tyler Moore. But not really Mary Tyler Moore, which is too bad.
- One was fought by Lee Van Cleef. The other was fought by the most mellow doctor who was also a ski bum ever.
- One featured MST staple, Peter Graves. The other featured MST staple, Michael Pataki.
- One came from a director with another MST ep on his resume. The other was directed by some no-name hack (Roger Cor-man?).
So vote, already. Or you might be it. That's right, you. I mean, it. I mean it!

- One I have seen, the other I have not
- One can be found with studio chatter in between takes, the other cannot
I think the choice is clear.

How could I vote against the pickle. Great episode, bad FX, bad Peter Graves speech, this one has everything a MST episode should have.

"He learned too late that man is a feeling creature, and because of it, the greatest of all..." That ultra-self-important part of Peter's (character's) long-winded speech never fails to make me cringe...angrily. Anyhow, I went with The Pudgy Pickle from Venus: Mind Freak because the film is more enjoyable than the Epileptic Adventures of a Were-Bat-Gorilla-Bear-Wolf.

Yeah, It Terrorized Oakdale won my vote too--just that fifties monster vibe, plus the rubber pickle suit, plus Beverly and Lee burning up the screen--rowr! And Peter's Very Important Speech topping off the whole glorious sundae like a big, America First Cherry. It's all you can ask for.

It Conquered the World by a long shot! It lives by Night aka Bat People is a pretty forgettable episode.

I can't possibly vote against Beverly Garland.

It is going to be hard to choose between the two ITs.
No. It isn't.
Beverly has IT.
Edit:
IT is going to be harder and harder for Mr. Atari to continue to come up with these weekly theme polls. Won't IT?

IT is going to be harder and harder for Mr. Atari to continue to come up with these weekly theme polls. Won't IT? No IT won't. I have the next 5 already planned out. And I'm the one who voted for "It Lives By Night". It's one of my favorite Sci-Fi eps. I love the host segments, the riffing, and the awful '70s-ness of the film. It's easily as good as other Sci-Fi era monster and/or '70s eps (Werewolf, Moon Beast, Touch of Satan, etc). Easily. I love "It Conquered...", but I watched it again recently and it didn't do it for me like it used to. I'd love to see feedback from people who watch both episodes this week.

It Lives By Night does have one of the best theme songs ever. Man I wish I could remember the car commercial last summer that had an eerily similar song.

And I'm the one who voted for "It Lives By Night". Ah. I thought it was decent. I didn't vote because, after seeing the love for the other episode so often on here, I figured there was no way "Conquered..." could be worse. If I ever end up watching it, that is.

IT conquered was hysterical when I first watched IT, but IT has never been as good since. I wonder why? The other IT ebbs and flows. At times a riot and at others -to quote the great Mr. Atari- only "m'eh". So for me it's not so clear cut a choice. Allow me to use my review pages as a guide, wont you. Thank you... It Conquered pageIt Lives pageFirst off, neither have been run through grammar check and that hurts both episodes. Edge to: EvenBoth have lovely color schemes, essential for the enjoyment of any MST3K episode: The Bats are blue, the pickle is garbed in slick black, silver and reds. Edge to Conquered It Lives title header is garnished with a lovely "bat" graphic, while Conquered has a striking, color gradation which strikes terror in the hearts of men. Edge to: ConqueredThe pickle review is accompanied by a lovely picture of Beverly Garland, BUT - there is a slide show demonstrating the various bat spams on Lives: Edge to: It LivesFinal and least important, the grades. One received the Bronze, while another took the Silver medal. Edge to: ConqueredSo now it is very clear who I should vote for. Thank you me, for helping me out.
